What's happening around Carson City on Sunday, Dec. 23
Let the countdown begin. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve!
This is the last day to see Santa Claus at the Carson Mall and aboard the Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum.
Last minute shoppers will appreciate that many retailers, including local businesses, are open today and tomorrow for those zero-hour Christmas gifts.
Here is what's happening today, the day before the night before Christmas:
— Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride, 9 a.m. Meet at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Road in Carson City, in the south parking lot next to the Linear Ditch Trail.
Ride will normally consist of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each. The ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but will usually be about a 12-16 mph pace. This is a "no drop" ride so no one is left behind.
All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, a helmet, and closed toed shoes.
Contact Michael Bish at mrbish11@att.net or 775-291-2068, if you have questions.
— Holiday Craft Fair at the Carson Mall. The Carson Mall Craft Fair includes local crafts, toys, clothes, Santa and more! The Fair will run until Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Santa Claus and his elves will be joining the fair inside the Carson Mall for meet and greets and pictures on Saturdays and Sundays through December 23. Santa is available from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
— 34th annual Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, 2180 S. Carson Street in Carson City. The train runs Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for this final weekend before Christmas. The Santa Train leaves Wabuska Station every 30 minutes. Tickets are $5 for all riders. Children 2 and younger who sit in an adult’s lap are free.
