Nevada wildlife agency launches new outdoor podcast, radio program
The Nevada Department of Wildlife in conjunction with the Reno community radio station KXNV 89.1 FM announces the launch of a weekly, hour-long radio program designed to take an in-depth look at issues impacting wildlife. The program is also available through podcast statewide at NevadaWild.org.
“We think this is an in important step for keeping the public informed about wildlife and outdoor issues,” said Teresa Moiola, co-host of the program and chief of NDOW’s Conservation Education Division. “Nevadans really care about wildlife and outdoor recreation, and this show provides detailed information they won’t find anywhere else.”
As part of the program, NDOW has launched NevadaWild.org to provide streaming and downloadable versions of the audio program as well as a blog that will also feature regular updates and information. As technology changes, natural resource managers are looking for new ways to engage a public hungry for information.
“We are excited about our partnership with NDOW, one of our first public agencies to take advantage of this terrific tool to reach a wide audience in Western Nevada,” said Steve Funk, KXNV Community Advisory Board Member. “We expect many more agencies, and even individuals, to offer programming that really reaches the community. This station is all about our community, our environment and the people who live here.”
The Nevada Wild program features news, information and comprehensive interviews with NDOW staff and guests about matters related to hunting, fishing, boating, wildlife watching, species management, outdoor safety and a host of other topics.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, and promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW’s wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. Find us on Facebook, Twitter or visit us at HYPERLINK "http://www.ndow.org" www.ndow.org.
