WNC employees raise $1,220 to donate 1,500 pounds of food to FISH’s High Five Turkey Drive

The generosity of the Western Nevada College community has made it possible to feed 100 families Thanksgiving dinner.  WNC contributed 100 turkeys and other Thanksgiving dinner favorites to Friends In Services Helping’s annual High Five Turkey Drive.

WNC Vice President Mark Ghan organized the fundraiser, which generated $1,220 in employee donations, exceeding the college goal of $1,000.

In addition to the 100 turkeys, the donations enabled WNC to purchase 70 cans of green beans, 70 cans of cranberry sauce, 70 5-pound bags of potatoes and 70 boxes of stuffing mix.

“The $1,220 in donations from the college was an extraordinary display of generosity,” Ghan said. “Our shopping and delivery crew got quite the workout loading and unloading, loading and unloading the nearly 1,500 pounds of food to FISH.”

With community-wide donations from the High Five Turkey Drive, FISH is able to feed nearly 2,000 people at the annual Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Carson Nugget.
