ALMANOR LAKE, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
“Salmon Central Station,” been biting and aggressive too.
Several private ramps are closed, although both public ramps remain open.
Smelt bait balls seem to be working the best for anglers on Lake Almanor.
Best bite is real early morning, light angler traffic. Fish are moving toward the surface longer due to cooler surface temperatures during the day and staying deeper in the mornings.
Almanor Fishing Adventures.

ANGEL LAKE, ELKO COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
According to the NDOT web site, the road here is still open, though it won’t be long before this lake ices over.
If you can get there the usual worms, Power Bait and small spinners all are effective here though flies generally do best.
Good flies include small bead head olive crystal buggers, wooly buggers, zug bugs, prince nymphs, olive soft hackle nymphs, snow cones and just about any fly that has peacock herl in it. Nymphs that have peacock herl or olive bodies seem to be fishing the best using short quick strips.

BIG SPRINGS RESERVOIR, HUMBOLDT COUNTY, NEV:
Closed until the last day in February 2013.

BISHOP AREA, CALIF:
Closed until the last Saturday in April 2013.

BLUE LAKES, HUMBOLDT COUNTY, NEV:

This lake is good for 8 to 10 inch fish using small spinners, natural baits or Power Bait. Small woolly buggers, crystal buggers and Cave Lake specials seem to work here anytime.
Browns and brookies are cruising the shorelines looking for spawning habitat and food. Best fishing for browns is in low light conditions and on cloudy unsettled days.

CHETCO RIVER, ORE:
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (800-720-ODWF) (www.dfw.state.or.us.com) reports:
The Chetco River flow came up this week and brought a slug of fresh chinook into the system.
Anglers may also see a few steelhead show up in the catch this week, but this is still early. Steelhead fishing will continue to improve through the month and into December.

COMINS LAKE, WHITE PINE COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
A few bass have been showing up, but no trout due to the pike infestation.
Pike fishing has also been poor.
There are few if any trout left in the lake also due to the pike infestation.

CONVICT LAKE AND CONVICT CREEK. CALIF:
Closed until the last Saturday in April 2013.

CROWLEY LAKE, CALIF:
Closed until the last Saturday in April 2013.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:

The water remains open but fishermen are finding ice along the shoreline during the early morning hours.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR, LINCOLN COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
With the arrival of colder temperatures last week the crappie and bass bites have shut down, but rainbow trout action has been good for those using Power Bait, nightcrawlers and small spinners.

FALL RIVER, CALIF:
Closed until the last Saturday in April 2013.

FEATHER RIVER, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
Steelhead fishing is good! Best bites have been reported from Thermalito to Palm Ave. Worms, nymphs, and indicators are the go-to for fly fishermen. Spin fisherman are using nightcrawlers and kastmasters.
Courtesy of Western Outdoor News.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF:
Wiggin’s Trading Post at Chilcoot (530-993-4683) reports:
11/19/12
They are still catching fish at Frenchman Lake. We are still getting reports of larger rainbows being caught most anywhere on the lake.
Don, a local, says that he has good luck regularly at Frenchman.
Use a bobber if casting from shore - drop a 4' line with bait.
The fish are not too deep.
Troll with nightcrawlers behind flashers near Turkey Point or in the narrows.
Boats can still access the lake at Lunker Point and Frenchman boat launch.
Please call us for current conditions and updates.

HOT CREEK, CALIF:
Steve Osterman of Performance Guide Service (760-934-6101) (www.performanceanglers.com) reports:
Water flow is at 6 CFS. CDC caddis or e/c caddis on the surface. Some mid day baetis activity. Nymph fishing remains the most productive.
WD-40's, flashback pheasant tails, hares ears and sparkle caddis pupa.

ILLIPAH RESERVOIR, WHITE PINE COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
There was ice on about a third of this lake earlier in the week, but with the warmer weather and sunny afternoons, there is probably only ice first thing in the mornings.
The water level is starting to rise and fishing is picking up, especially at the inlet end. The usual natural baits, PowerBait, spinners and natural colored nymphs should all work.
Hare’s ears, PT’s, damselfly nymphs and prince nymphs are good choices for this lake. Fish black or olive wooly buggers on a full sink or sink tip line in three to ten feet of water and where the stream enters the lake.
The brown trout spawn is probably starting to wrap up here.

JAKE'S/BOIES RESERVOIR, ELKO COUYTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
Water level is low and weedy, with ice on the edges in the early morning.
Anglers with float tubes or small boats have a definite advantage.
Bass fishing is slow and almost done for the year, while trout fishing is steadily improving though difficult due to the water conditions shore anglers will find fishing difficult.
Due to the low water, this small reservoir was not stocked and so trout fishing will probably only be fair. For trout, anglers should try spinners, the usual natural baits, Power Baits and streamers.
Fly rodders should try hare’s ears, wooly buggers, and chironomids.

JIGGS / ZUNINO RESERVOIR, ELKO COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
Unfortunately, Jiggs has dried up.

JUNE LAKE LOOP, CALIF:

KLAMATH RIVER, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
Fishing has been great this week! Fishing is good throughout the day.
Most anglers report catching fish, change egg color if the fishing gets slow.
Best access to water is by boat.
Clown-eggs and micro spawns in yellow and pink seem to be the best flies to use; while Shrimp pink eggs have been getting the Steelhead.

Fishing Guides: Marble Mountain Guest Ranch.

KNOTT CREEK RESERVOIR, HUMBOLDT COUNTY, NEV:
Closed until the second Saturday in June 2013.

LAUGHTON, CLARK COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
Colorado River:
Trout fishing has picked up significantly with recent fish plants by the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery.
Anglers are catching limits along the river.
Don’t forget to push down those barbs on your hooks for an easier time with catch and release.
Nightcrawlers, Jakes Spin-a-lures, or Panther Martins in yellow or gold colorations are working well.
Schools of striped bass have been spotted and a few over four pounds have been taken on anchovies.

LEWISTON LAKE, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
Fishing has been fair to good this week. Mid-day seems to be the best time to fish, that’s when Baetis have been hatching!
Anglers using sinking lines and retrieving small #16-20 mayfly nymphs and midge patterns seem to be getting some bites.
Courtesy of The Fly Shop.

LUNDY LAKE, CALIF:
Closed until the last Saturday in April 2013.

Closed until the second Saturday in February 2013.

LAKE MEAD, CLARK COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
Striper action picked up this week for shoreline anglers in the Boulder Basin while boaters in the Vegas Wash and the Overton Arm did well using lures, jigging and casting.
The surface bite has been slow and those using netted shad did better than those with anchovies.
Smallmouth bass have been active near Stewarts Point.

LAKE MOHAVE, CLARK COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
Fishing continues to be good this week for striped bass and catfish.
Anchovies are catching the fish.
Rainbow trout action has been good at Willow Beach following the weekly fish plant.

OREGON PACIFIC OCEAN AND BEACHES, ORE:
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (800-720-ODWF) (www.dfw.state.or.us.com) reports:
Crabbing for Dungeness crabs in the ocean is closed from Oct. 16 – Nov. 30.

There are separate daily limits for lingcod (two) and flatfish other than Pacific halibut (25).
Fishing for rockfish has been very good near Coos Bay and Bandon

Try WD-40's , pheasant tails and caddis larva.
Lower Owens River:

Solid baetis hatch starting around noon.
Barr's emerger, flashback pheasant tails, juju baetis.

ORVILLE LAKE, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
Bass fishing is great! Anglers report bass between 2 to 4 pounds.
Try fishing 20-25 feet down for good results.
Try fishing near the West Branch and North Fork.
— Courtesy Western Outdoor News

PIT RIVER, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
Fishing and water conditions have been good this week!
A big storm is expected to change that soon.
In the meantime, expect to find a decent amount of rainbows!
Try using #14-16 pheasant tails or prince nymphs.
Still a few October Caddis left on Pit River.
Courtesy of The Fly Shop

PYRAMID LAKE, WASHOE COUNTY, NEV:
Don and Elaine Quilici of Carson City reported that they were spincasting with lures while standing in the water in their chest waders for three hours this morning (Nov. 20). See photo.
He caught and released one very small Cutthroat (15 inches), Elaine did not get a hit, but the big news was the wind, wind, wind.
The wind was very strong, with tumbleweeds blowing into the lake, dust flying around in the air, and white caps on the water. Not a nice day.
Then, on their return home, big trucks, buses and RV's were prohibited from driving on the freeway between Reno and Carson City, because of the wind.

RUBY LAKE NWR, ELKO COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
Little or no change here as bass fishing is done for the year here and it’s time to target trout in the collection ditch as well as in the ponds.
Fishing for trout has been fair to good as anglers report catching trout in the Fingers area of the collection ditch as well as around Bressman Cabin and some of the ponds.
The collection ditch is artificial lures only and wading is not allowed.

RYE PATCH RESERVOIR, PERSHING COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:

SACRAMENTO RIVER DELTA, CALIF:
Rick and Tresa Kennedy of Tight Line Guide Service (888-975-0990) (www.fish tightlines.com) report:
We headed out for a quick morning striper trip on the Delta.
We didn’t have much time to fish since we were attending the 21st CIFFI Annual Fundraising Dinner in Folsom at 5:00 PM.
We were joined by friends Mike and Ryan Tripp of Oroville, Joe Aksamit of Galt and Jared Johnson owner of Rocky Mountain Tackle Company.
We launched at Viera’s a little after 7:00 AM and headed towards the Rio Vista bridge. We talked about making a run to Collinsville along with other spots but knew we didn’t have much time to fish.
We spent our time close to the bridge working both the East and West sides of the river. We pulled a variety of lures including P-Line Predators, Rattle Traps on a spreader with P-Line Pulse Raiser’s, Yo-ZURI’s and Rapala’s.
It wasn’t long before we were in the fish.
We ended up putting 6 stripers in the boat with the largest going just over 5 pounds and also released a half dozen undersize stripers.
The highlight of the day was when Mike put out the Rattle Trap – P-Line Pulse Raiser combo and within a couple minutes Ryan was fighting a fish on it. Shortly after Ryan picked up the rod he said, something was different about this one. I have to say Ryan is only 11 years old, but I would put him against most veteran anglers on the water. This young man knows his stuff!
After fighting this fish and seeing a sea lion not far away we all started telling Ryan “hurry up and get that fish in the boat”.
That was about the time the fish surfaced and we quickly learned it wasn’t another striper but a 21 pound King Salmon that inhaled the Rattle Trap.
We fished until about noon and headed home to get ready for the dinner.

SACRAMENTO RIVER (LOWER), CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
Fishing has been great! Water flows from the Dam are at 5,300CFS. Fishing is expected to stay good for a few more weeks! Pink, orange, and salmon colored egg patterns seem to be working. Salmon season is open below Deschutes Rd, which brings a lot of boating traffic. Fish deep, with your leader’s length between 7.5- 8.5’ to the split shot.
Courtesy of The Fly Shop.

SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF:
Kirk and Lisa Portocarrero at email outdooradventures@sacriverguide.com and www.sacriverguide.com (1-800-670-4448) report:
King Salmon:
As of November 16, 2012. Water flows are at 6,000 CFS.
Sacramento River Salmon fishing is good.
We are catching nice Kings daily, average hook up 4 to 8 salmon a day.
Flatfish lures are best bet, Lures have been producing the largest King Salmon. Water temperature is a huge key.
Early mornings we are getting a few salmon first thing in the morning at first light, and as we move through the day getting hit on bright colored lures, your florescent pinks and yellows.
We have rain on the way, this will bring up more salmon to the area.
Expect to see larger fish now. Most fish have been weighing in at 25 pounds plus, also another 41 pounder.
November and December are known months on the Sacramento River to produce big salmon.
The Anderson area is excellent for trout as well as salmon.
This is prime time fishing! Call us today to schedule your trip.

SAN JOAQUIN/RED’S MEADOW, CALIF:
Steve Osterman of Performance Guide Service (760-934-6101) (www.performanceanglers.com) reports:
Road closed.

SHASTA LAKE, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
The lake is in transition, fishing is fair to good for bass and trout. Rainbows and brown trout are hungry and feasting now that the shad have moved to more shallow water; around the 20ft-40ft level.
Trout reports coming from Bridge Bay and near the Dry Creek area.

SMITH RIVER, ORE:
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (800-720-ODWF) (www.dfw.state.or.us.com) reports:
Fall chinook will start entering the Smith as the rains start occurring.
No harvest of wild coho is allowed in the Smith River basin.

SOUTH FORK RESERVOIR, ELKO COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
This water has shown the most improvement as shore anglers are reporting limits of 15 to 20 inch trout and having just as good of luck as boaters.
Fish are being caught in the coves on the east side of the lake, south of the buoy line on the flats at the south end of the lake, and along Jet Ski Beach.
Actually, fish are being caught in less than 10 feet of water all around the lake. The water temperature has dropped to around 45 degrees and the water is finally clearing.
The wind has broken up many weed mats which is making trolling easier.
Anglers are still finding soft mud along the backs of the coves, so launch float tubes from the rocky points and then kick back into the coves.
First thing in the morning it is frozen, and then when you try to get back out the same way in the warm afternoons, anglers are getting “stuck” in the mud.
The main boat ramp cove is fair to good for trout.
Fly fishermen report a few largemouth bass around two pounds being taken on woolly buggers.
While fishing for black bass is generally slow this time of year, when anglers do catch them, they are generally good sized. Deep diving crankbaits, drop shot rigs and blade baits should all work for black bass.
Fishing for wipers is still good, but they are on the move and so anglers need to be on the move for them also. Unlike previous weeks, fishing appears to pick up later in the morning instead of at first light, so anglers can sleep in a bit if they want. Work in two to three feet of water with a slow retrieve.
They appear to be moving into the four to ten feet of water as the sun starts to climb in the sky about mid-morning and anglers should switch to a sink tip or sinking line to reach them.
As they go deeper, anglers can also switch to hare’s ears, chironomids and other popular nymphs fished under an indicator.

LAKE TAHOE:
Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbons Charters (530-544-6552) (www.blueribbonfishing.com) reports:
Don and Elaine Quilici of Carson City caught their limits of Mackinaw Trout on Thursday, November 15.
We were trolling at the Tavern Hole on the west side of the lake.
Elaine had the biggest Mack with an 11.5 pound, 31.5 inch keeper.

TOPAZ LAKE:
Closed until January 01, 2013.

TRINITY RIVER, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
Trinity River has been fishing good for some, slow for others. Steelhead have made an appearance and expected to be great through February. Salmon are keeping steelhead busy, steels looking for those egg patterns. Courtesy of The Fly Shop.

TRINITY RIVER, CALIF:
Kirk and Lisa Portocarrero at email outdooradventures@sacriverguide.com and www.sacriverguide.com (1-800-670-4448) report:
Currently, Water is at 300 CFS.
Steelhead Fishing is fantastic! Excellent fishing for Steelhead on the Trinity River from Lewiston to Pigeon Point is fishing very well.
Fishing is better during the week days to avoid the crowds.
With 10 to 15 hook ups a day now, for the seasoned fly fisherman.
Flies working best are Stone flies, Copper John's, and Egg patterns.
Fish are biting throughout the day, hatches happening between 1 and 3 pm.
Egg patterns working better in the morning hours, then turning to flies later in the day.
Steelhead in early morning in shallow riffles and the later in the afternoon, when the river gets busier, steelhead are moving into the deep holes.
Bait fisherman using lures and producing nice Steelhead, as well.
We will be fishing for steelhead on the Trinity River from now through the month of March.

TWIN LAKES, CALIF:
Closed until the last Saturday in April 2013.

VIRGINIA LAKES, CALIF:
Closed until the last Saturday in April 2013.

WALKER LAKE, MINERAL COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
No Lahontan cutthroat have been reported or seen at Walker Lake since 2009. Mineral County Road Dept. has done some work on the State Parks Launch. Launching is improved but you still need four wheel drive.

WALKER RIVER, EAST, CALIF:
Steve Osterman of Performance Guide Service (760-934-6101) (www.performanceanglers.com) reports:
Water flow has been up and down and is now 23 CFS. Fishing is tough. WD-40's, buckskin nymphs, copper John's and Prince Nymphs.

WALKER RIVER, WEST, CALIF:
Closed until the last Saturday in April 2013.

WASHOE LAKE, WAHOE COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
Washoe Lake dried up in 2004 and, although it is presently full and has been restocked, the fish population, consisting mostly of channel catfish and white bass, is small. Fishing is expected to be poor.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR, ELKO COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
The lake has stabilized at about 30 percent of normal and with water temperatures in the low 40’s and dropping.
Fishing for trout continues to be good especially from shore with shore anglers reporting limits of two to five pound fish.
No reports of any smallmouths being caught.
Most of the algae is gone and the water is fairly clear, though the wind action of the past few days will cloud it up some.
The cooler conditions have the trout moving into shallower water so shore fishing in the vicinity of the state park has been good with many shore anglers reporting limits using either Power Bait or nightcrawlers.
Boaters have done well along the rock wall south of the State Park boat ramp catching bowcutts in the three to five pound class.
Rainbows are coming in between 16 and 18 inches.
Fly fishermen are still reporting good fishing in three to five feet of water using gold ribbed hare’s ears, chironomids, and woolly buggers, catching fish averaging around 20 inches.
The state park boat ramp is still usable, though the dock is no longer in the water. However, the small ramp in the Hendricks Arm is not useable.
Wiper fishing is fair to good with anglers catching a few fish around the island off of the state park boat ramp and a few along the rock face south of the boat ramp. Minnow imitations, such as crankbaits or rapalas that are black over silver or white, and trout or perch imitators seem to be the best.
No word on any perch being caught.
The outflow of the dam has slowed to around 10 CFS making for fair fishing conditions in the tailwater below Wild Horse Dam.

WILLOW BEACH, CLARK COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
Anglers are finding good action for large stripers.
The fish are biting A.C. Plugs and other trout-imitating swimbaits.
Three fish weighing in at 16.16 pounds, 17 pounds and 27.76 pounds came in during the past week.
Rainbow trout continue to hit small spinners and other traditional trout baits following the weekly plants on Fridays.

WILLOW CREEK RESERVOIR, ELKO COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
The water level has stabilized at about 10 percent full and should start rising.
Fishing is slow for the warm water species here, and with few trout in this lake, there will be no new reports on this water until spring.

WILSON RESERVOIR, ELKO COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
The water level is low, though it is starting to clear a bit.
Fishing for bass is slow, but trout fishing is fair to good. Gold ribbed hare’s ears continue to be catch fish along with chironomids. Larger presentations have been also been productive so try natural baits (worms/Power Bait), spinners and large natural colored flies like wooly buggers and leech patterns can also be effective this time of year.
