A second colder system will be on its heels for early Monday and will provide chances for another round of snow.

The stronger of the storms will be capable of producing heavy rain, hail, and winds in excess of 40 mph.
Another round of thunderstorms developing in Sierra, may reach western Nevada valleys

A National Weather Service forecaster noted the storms could enter into the valley areas of western Nevada into early evening, bringing with them the potential for heavy rain, hail and wind.
California Fish and Game Commission to consider trout season opener delay

April 25 was to be the opening trout season opener for many Sierra lakes, rivers and streams. This year because of the outbreak of Covid-19, the California Fish and Game Commission has proposed a new regulation that may temporarily suspend or delay the opener to protect public health.

National Weather Service issues thunderstorm warning for Western Nevada
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 07/21/2018 - 11:38amUPDATE: 4:45PM: At 4:05 p.m. Saturday, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10 miles southwest of Gardnerville, moving north at 10 mph. Dime size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this storm. Brief heavy rain is also possible with this storm. Outflow winds could reach as far northwest as South Lake Tahoe.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Haze and smoke from Mono County fire moves into Carson City region

Carson City is experiencing hazy skies due to smoke from the Owens River Fire burning east of Highway 395, seven miles north of Mammoth Lakes in Mono County.
As of early Monday afternoon, air quality in Carson City was in the "good" range but further south it has been listed as "moderate." It is likely to change as the wind becomes stronger with an approaching cold front.

Smokey haze around Carson from lightning-caused fires
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Fri, 07/29/2016 - 10:20amUPDATE 4:15PM: The Sierra Interagency Dispatch Center (SFIDC) in Minden reports the Rock Fire in the Red Rock area north of Reno is now 50 percent contained 1,500 acres.
The voluntary evacuation orders for about 50 residents in the area has been lifted, and those residents are being allowed to return to their homes.
No injuries are reported with this fire.
