Carson City man sentenced to federal prison for possession of child pornography
A 44-year-old Carson City man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and lifetime supervised release for the possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Dayle Elieson announced Monday.
Ryan Ray Tetirick was convicted of having 125 images and 8 videos of child pornography and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Larry R. Hicks. Tetirick had pled guilty to one count of possession of child pornography. In addition to the prison term, he will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
According to information in the plea agreement, on April 19, 2017, law enforcement from the Northern Online Child Exploitation Task Force served a search warrant at Tetirick’s home. During that search, he agreed to an interview with authorities and admitted he had downloaded and possessed child pornography in the past, but denied doing so recently.
He also said his electronic files were password-protected and that he used a “cleaner” software program to delete files. He gave a username and password for officers to search his computer A forensic examination of his computer and other electronic devices revealed the images and video, including those of infants. Officers seized one computer and one external hard drive, according to KOLO.
The case was investigated by the Northern Online Child Exploitation Task Force which includes members from the FBI, ICE-HSI, the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
