Send a Scout to Camp Car and Truck Show fundraiser coming to Carson City's Fuji Park

Boy Scouts of America Troop 33 will host its 4th annual “Send a Scout to Camp” Car and Truck Show Fundraiser on August 12, 2017 at Fuji Park in Carson City.

The show will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; award ceremony starts at 3 p.m. Registration cost is $40 per entry. There is still time for pre-registration or you can register on the day of the event. Each participant will get a T-shirt, one lunch meal ticket, and a dash plaque.

Voting will be People’s choice – Scouts’ Choice 1st and 2nd places, 1st-4th place in the following categories: 1900-1939, 1940-1954, 1955-1969, and 1970-present day. Plus awards for Trucks and furthest distance and largest car club participation.

The Warren Engine Company #1 will be providing the food service at this event.

There will be 3 live auctions throughout the day of various items; times will be 11 a.m, 12:30 p.m, and 2 p.m. We will have the capability to swipe credit/debit cards. All participants and spectators are invited to join in on the auctions.
There will also be music, vendors, a Bonneville race car, and custom cars/motorcycles/fire truck display.

More than 48 Carson High School Future Business Leaders of America students attended the state conference in Sparks, Nev. this past week. In total, 38 of those students earned 74 “Top-10” placements in 30 separate events. Additionally, three CHS FBLA students took state with first-place finishes and 15 of them qualified for the National Business Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. this coming June.

On Saturday, April 20, Carson City Community Gardeners and the UNR Extension Master Gardeners came together to get the Community Garden ready for the growing season. For two hours they removed weeds, spread mulch and prepped their garden beds for the season.

In collaboration with Chartwells, the Carson City School District foodservice partner, Culinary Arts students from Ms. Tammy Borreman’s class at Carson Middle School competed in a “Discovery Kitchen Cook Off.” Similar to a mini version of the Food Network’s Iron Chef, the timed cooking competition featured teams of three students who prepared succulent dishes for a judging panel.
