It's Your City with St. Peter's Episcopal Church director Father Jeff Paul
This week's It's Your City is with Father Jeff Paul, director of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Carson City. Founded by James Nye and Henry Yerington, St. Peters is often consider the jewel of the Carson City Historic District. The congregation began in 1863 during the Civil War, celebrating its 150th anniversary last year.
The church building itself was completed in 1867, making it 147 years old, he said. St. Peter's is located at 300 South Division St. and in 1978 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The early congregation was open to all and non-discrimatory, which continues today. Paul describes the congregation today as a lively faith community representing progressive and generous Christianity. It is an open and inclusive faith community.
