Tickets going fast as Taste of Downtown Carson City to serve 2,000 this Saturday
Get your appetites ready and your tickets now as the 22nd annual Taste of Downtown Carson City will arrive this Saturday, June 20 with at least 40 restaurants on hand to dish up, flip, baste, slather and pour on their menu specialities for ticketholders.
The community event provides for strolling the side streets of downtown Carson City, while listening to nine local bands and enjoying all that the downtown shops, restaurants and vendors have to offer. Trolleys are available to transport ticket-holders across the 13 blocks.
All proceeds from The Taste benefit Advocates to End Domestic Violence, a Carson City non-profit committed to aiding abused families in northern Nevada.
"If you're looking to spend family time with your father this Father's Day, this would be a great place to be," said Lisa Lee, executive director of the Advocates to End Domestic Violence. "There's something for everyone — food, entertainment, shopping that spans generations. The Father's Day tie is getting tired, while the Taste is just getting warmed up."
The Taste will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will continue until 9 p.m. When the food portion of the event ends, the night heats up with live entertainment through 10 p.m. in Telegraph Square and on Third Street.
There are 2,000 tickets available, on a first come, first serve basis. Get your tickets because the event does sell out.
Tickets are $40 and are available at the Carson City Chamber of Commerce, Classy Seconds, the Purple Avocado, over the phone at 775.883.7654 or at the website, www.tasteofdowntowncarson.com.
Advocates to End Domestic Violence is a private, not-for-profit organization formed in 1979 by two formerly battered women who saw a need for a domestic violence program in Carson City. It has grown from a small two-bedroom apartment, to a full service program that operates a 51-bed shelter and provides a wide variety of services designed to protect and support battered women and their children in the community.
Its mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment where domestic violence victims can re-examine their view of themselves and work towards a violence free future. Advocates accepts women for who they are and encourage positive growth toward independence and self-sufficiency.
Advocates offers a 24-hour crisis hotline at 775.883.7654.
The event has been known to sell out; any tickets available on the day of the event will be available at the Information Booth on E. Proctor in Carson City after 11 a.m. the day of the event. See the video below that highlights last year's event.
