Annual Crystal's Crusade fundraiser returns Saturday to Carson City's West Side Pour House
With the purpose of raising money for families who have a cancer diagnosis of a loved one and a desire to spend time with that person to make memories, the family of Crystal Evenson-Briscoe will hold a "Crystal's Crusade" fundraiser this Saturday, June 1 in Carson City.
The event happens from 3 to 7 p.m. at Westside Pour House, 110 W Telegraph St, Carson City. It will feature music, live auction, raffle, food, drinks and plenty of fun, organizers say.
The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money to give to a family or families who have experienced a cancer diagnosis of a loved one. The idea is to raise money for families so they can vacation or set aside fun time with their loved one, said Crystal's mother, Loretta Fagan, who has established Crystal's Crusade with the idea that is similar to Make a Wish.
The event is put on by Loretta Fagan (Crystal's Mom), Alicia Wilson (Crystal's sister) and Ryan Briscoe (Crystal's husband). This is an open, community event and everyone is invited.
Crystal passed away from cancer 7 years ago, her mother said. She was 31 years old. From the time she was diagnosed to the time she passed her family made it a point to go on vacations and just have fun.
"So often, with a cancer diagnosis you are unable to think about or even afford a vacation. That is what we want the money we give the family to go for, to make memories," said Fagan.
