Traffic backed up due to chase, traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists

UPDATE 3:11 p.m.: Dispatch announced the scene is clear.
However, northbound traffic in the valley is still closed by NHP.

Traffic is backed up as of 2:45 p.m. on I-580 near Washoe Valley following a chase and traffic stop involving multiple armed motorcyclists.

A chase began within Carson City jurisdiction involving a motorcyclist who refused to stop and allegedly tried to run deputies off the road, according to dispatch. NHP was called once they entered NHP’s jurisdiction who appear to have taken over the investigation which ended near Bellevue.

As of 2:52 p.m., detectives from Carson City have also been deployed to the incident.

Traffic is backed up at least three miles according to a deputy on scene.

While investigating the incident in Washoe, it was reported that multiple large groups of about 50-80 heavily armed motorcyclists entered Carson City, heading towards the scene.

WEDNESDAY, June 27: Things to do in Carson City

CARSON CITY — Fourth of July week means history comes to life at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in the capital city.

Central Lyon County Fire Protection District paramedics, the Nevada Highway Patrol and Lyon County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to a traffic accident with injuries at Highway 50 and Highlands in Mound House.

UPDATE 3:22PM: Both lanes of Highway 50 through Dayton are now open, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Firefighters are mopping up the area.

UPDATE 3:08PM: Forward progress on the fire in Dayton has stopped, according to Central Lyon County Fire Protection District. The fire burned approximately 10 acres entirely on Dayton State Park property, said the CLCFPD battalion chief. The fire and investigation is now under the command of Nevada Division of Forestry.

A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday for possession of a stolen vehicle and two misdemeanors for having stolen license plates, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
