Carson City arrests: Man jailed for having stolen vehicle and license plates
A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday for possession of a stolen vehicle and two misdemeanors for having stolen license plates, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Jeremiah Mark Alderink of Jenison, Mich., was arrested at 6:42 p.m. in the 3400 block of North Carson Street.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle in a parking lot adjacent to a vacant building. He conducted a registration check on the vehicle with a Florida license plate. The plate was reported stolen May 29, 2018.
The deputy observed a single occupant in the vehicle, identified as Alderink, who exited and then walked around the car. The deputy observed the man talking on a cell phone and approached him, asking for identification.
Alderink provided the deputy with his name, date of birth and Social Security number. The deputy conducted a wants and warrant check of the vehicle using the VIN number and was advised the vehicle was reported stolen out of Michigan on May 4, 2018, the arrest report states.
The man was arrested for alleged possession of stolen property. He was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak. He told the deputy he was in Carson City for two days and was trying to get in touch with a friend who lives in the capital city.
He gave the deputy consent to search the vehicle. Inside the trunk the deputy located a license plate from Oregon, and conducted a wants and warrant check on the Oregon license plate. The plate returned as stolen from Portland, Oregon. The deputy collected both plates and the car was towed. Bail: $25,500.
In other arrests:
— An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 7:09 p.m. in the 1000 block of Latigo Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and Department of Alternative Sentencing violation.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area for a domestic battery report and made contact with the victim who was hit in the face by the suspect. He captured the incident on his cell phone and showed the deputy the recording, which clearly showed the suspect acting in an aggressive manner toward the victim. Bail: $3,637.
— A 30-year-old Reno man was booked Monday into Carson City Jail for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued April 4, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 46-year-old Hidden Valley man was booked into jail Monday, 10:36 p.m. for misdemeanor warrants issued Dec. 21, 2015 for hit and run causing an accident, driving on a suspended or revoked license and no proof of insurance. Bail: $3,000.
— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 10:09 a.m. in the 2000 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear traffic warrant issued out of East Fork Township Court. Bail: $250.
