Construction of a new Spooner Lake visitor center and amphitheater begins Monday

The South Lake Tahoe City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to start the process to implement a three-tier ban of Styrofoam in the city limits.

Carson St. The 3,595-square-foot space will give the organizations much more room than at the former 2,200-square-foot location. A grand opening will be held once the move-in is complete.

An anonymous tip led Carson City sheriff’s investigators to a Menlo Court second floor apartment Wednesday afternoon where a woman wanted in connection with burglary last week was hiding, a Carson City sheriff’s captain said.

There are not enough foster families in Carson City to meet the need, forcing children to be displaced into other communities — possibly causing further trauma. Information meetings this Wednesday and in March will address the shortage and ways to recruit families wanting to help.
