Thursday, April 23: Things to do in Carson City
Thursdays get busy in Carson City. You can choose the Legislative Showdown Basketball game at Carson High and watch the battle of the Donkeys vs. Elephants. The WNC Wildcats take on the College of Eastern Utah this afternoon on the baseball field. The monthly Francis Humphrey Lecture Series at the Nevada State Museum features a slide-show and talk about various geothermal features around the world. Or you can enjoy a performance at the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Community Center as our talented student string musicians present their Spring Fling concert. Check out the list for even more.

Today is International Day of the Book and that makes me happy: I’m a bit of a bookworm. One of my favorite authors is Reno’s own Willy Vlautin, and his book ‘The Motel Life’ is the topic of discussion at the Carson City Library this evening after a viewing of the movie. The movie was filmed in the Carson City, Reno, Douglas County area, but please note, it is rated ‘R.’ Vlautin will be visiting on Friday for a book reading, but RSVP, as space is limited. Find a favorite author of your own at the Friends of the Carson City Library’s bookstore, Browsers Corner: everything is half off through Saturday. For those of you with children, the Library hosts story time every Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m. and at 10: 45 a.m.

So, for your viewing pleasure, I have included that very first video: me at the zoo.
