Carson City Fire Chief: Fire has been doused at Centennial Park, mop up and investigation begins
UPDATE: 4:26PM: The brush fire that was sparked Sunday afternoon at Centennial Park in East Carson City has been doused and is under control, with firefighters expected to be on scene for the next two hours for mop-up, said Fire Chief Bob Schreihans. The fire burned around 3 acres and the cause is unknown at this time. Fire investigators are at the scene. No one was injured and at least one structure was damaged, Schreihans said.

UPDATE 4:03PM: Carson City Fire Chief Bob Schreihans said firefighters have now surrounded the blaze at Centennial Park, which is estimated to be about three acres. He said firefighters have been able to get the upper hand on it, dousing flames in two different spots. He said the fire burned the roof off a bathroom at the park.
Fire investigators have been called to the scene to determine the cause.

UPDATE: 3:55PM: Multiple fire trucks are responding to the east Carson City fire off of Highway 50 including those from Lyon and Douglas County. The fire is burning out of control and is spreading, estimated to be at least three acres. Eagle Valley Golf Course and Centennial Park have been evacuated.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Sunday afternoon to a brush fire at Centennial Park, near Eagle Valley Golf Course.
The fire was reported to be spreading with the wind, near the 9th hole and the softball fields, according to Carson City Dispatch. The call came into dispatch at 3:25 p.m.
Flames were shooting 13 feet high and heavy, thick black smoke has engulfed the area. Evacuations are underway nearby.
Motorists are advised to stay out of the area to allow fire crews to get to the fire.
