Art of Conservation: Open Spaces and Special Places. A Benefit Art Show/Sale for Nevada Land Trust
From October 23-26, the Nevada Land Trust is hosting a free benefit art show, "Art of Conservation - Open Spaces and Special Spaces" in the three galleries of the Wilbur May Museum, Rancho San Rafael Regional Park at 1595 N. Sierra St., Reno. The Galleries will be open Thursday 2pm-4pm, Friday-Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday 12pm-3pm, with a closing reception 12pm-2pm.
Local artists, many nationally and regionally recognized, create Nevada themed art inspired by paint-outs at sites hosted by Nevada Land Trust, at conservation areas they have worked on, and by their own adventures into the wilds of Nevada that will be for viewing and sale. Many of the artists are plein air painters, but other art forms including pen and ink, multimedia, sculpture, decorated gourds, and textiles will also be for available.
The free four day show was highly successful with over 30 artists last year. This year's show with recognition from the Nevada Sesquicentennial organization promises to be even bigger and better. Nevada Land Trust, formerly Nevada Land Conservancy, is Nevada’s first independent nonprofit conservation land trust, working to protect key land, water, wildlife, recreational, historic, scenic, and working farms and ranches in our state. The Trust realizes that it takes the efforts of many to assure the future of our wilderness lands and animals for our most vital resource - our children and their future.
