Kristy Dial, is a professional gourd artist and teacher with 25 years of experience. She is currently the president of the Nevada Gourd Society and is an AGS Certified Judge.

Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. Local business Wizard of Pawz grooming salon hosts a socially-distanced grand opening on Saturday afternoon, followed by a pool tournament at Bulldog Billiards at 6 p.m. Combined with live music and karaoke, the state capitol will be packed with excitement! The event’s 25th anniversary will be dedicated to the memory of Jim McCormick, UNR Art Department chair, artist, curator and one of the founders of the show. Admission is free.
Silver State Art Festival coming to Carson City's Fuji Park Sept. 13-15

The local group is known as the Great Basin Gourd Patch meet monthly in the Johnson Lane area to share and learn techniques used on gourds. Gourd Classes

Gourds are a wonderful canvas for painting, wood burning, carving and weaving. Our experienced teachers will guide and teach students techniques used to work with the dyes, tools and of course gourds.
Woodburning on Hard Shelled Gourds

This class will include the history of gourds in society and develop skills using a wood burner (pyrography) safely. Ages 9 and up. Students need to be conscientious about burners.
