Carson City Parks, Rec and Open Space to host Mexican Ditch historical bike tour Saturday
Registration is now open for the first ever Mexican Ditch Historical Bike Tour this Saturday, April 17, 2021. The community is lucky to have one continuous stretch of Trail from Morgan Mill River Access to the Mexican Dam, so join the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department for an an adventurous bike tour celebrating the historical significance of the area and our new trail system.
We will meet at the Morgan Mill River Access parking lot located near the East end of Morgan Mill Rd. at 1:00pm and ride our bikes all the way to the Mexican Dam and back learning about the rich history of this stretch of the Carson River. From mining to ranching to outdoor recreation, the Mexican Ditch and the Carson River have been integral parts of Carson City's history, and remain important to this day.
The trail is considered "easy" according to the IMBA and will be about 10 miles total. Dress accordingly and bring plenty of water. Remember your helmet, bicycle, and any other cycling equipment you will need. We will be stopping periodically to discuss historical details and taking a break at the Mexican Dam.
Registration is required for this activity and spots will fill up quickly. You can register by clicking here.
