Nevada Dental Association to host Oral Health Awareness Day with lawmakers in Carson City
CARSON CITY — This Wednesday, Feb. 27, the Nevada dental community is heading to Carson City to spend the day at the Capitol for Oral Health Awareness Day. This is a passionate and involved group of Nevada dentists and UNLV dental students and non-profit dental programs, including Compassion Community Clinic, Adopt a Vet Dental and Healthy Smile Healthy Child.
The purpose of the visit is to communicate with lawmakers about the importance of oral health and to ensure all Nevadans have access to a qualified dentist. Additionally, the NDA and its members will continue to make patient safety and preservation of the doctor-patient relationship their top priorities.
“The practice of dentistry is evolving and it is the job of the NDA and its members to ensure that those we serve have access to a qualified dentist,” said Dr. Robert Talley, Executive Director of the NDA. “It is essential that lawmakers understand the connection between oral and physical health.”
During Oral Health Awareness Day, NDA members will meet with Governor Sisolak and other elected leaders. The Nevada Dental Association is proud to share that dentists provided more than $5 million in reported pro bono care to Nevadans in 2018.
There will be a lunch open to legislators and staff from 12-1:30 in Room 3100 of the Legislative Building in Carson City located at 401 S. Carson Street. Legislative leaders will be addressing the attendees at this time.
