Saturday, Feb. 22 is caucus day in Carson City and the State of Nevada! If you’re a democrat or would like to register as one, and you’re interested in voting for your preferred candidate, then this information is for you.

Carson City's own Ryker the Spinone Italiano won his Breed at the Westminster Dog Show earlier this week. There were a total of 13 Spinoni entered to compete this year and Ryker brought home the gold with best in his breed.

This isn't Ryker's first big win at Westminster though, as he is a return champion.

A man was arrested Thursday for a felony warrant alleging assault with a deadly weapon in an incident that happened Sunday at a Carson City convenience store in which a customer allegedly had a gun pointed at him.

Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." Carson City's Greenhouse Project is hosting a lunch and dinner fundraiser toward a healthier State Capitol. Dale Poune will perform at Bella Vita Bistro, plus comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Nevada Caucus on Saturday, an open house at the historic Foreman-Roberts House, a Latin-themed concert at the community center and more. Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Thursday afternoon to a brush fire reported near the 3200 block of Arrowhead Drive and Hytech Drive in northeast Carson City. The fire was quickly extinguished and no structures appear to have been damaged.

Retired Carson City teacher and longtime animal welfare advocate Lisa Schuette has announced her candidacy for Carson City Supervisor Ward 4. She is running for the seat currently held by John Barrette who is not seeking another term.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will hold town hall meetings at four DMV offices across the state on Wednesday, Feb. 26, to help residents learn about Real ID requirements for travelers that will go into effect this fall.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is attempting to identify two suspects involved in an incident where one pointed a firearm at a customer at the Quik Stop convenience store at 3006 North Roop Street in Carson City.

After three years of announcing the availability of scholarships to those who would seek to pursue a degree in hospitality, the Carson City Chamber was finally able to award a $1,135 scholarship to a very deserving student who has chosen to pursue a degree in hotel management.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in attempting to locate a runaway juvenile, Reuben Angel, 16, last seen on Feb. 4 at a counseling meeting in Carson City.

A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for misdemeanor battery after allegedly pushing an Uber driver to the ground causing injury, a sheriff's report states.

The Carson City School District will host two showings of a 60-minute documentary titled "Screenagers Next Chapter — Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience" Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Bob Boldrick Theatre in the Carson City Community Center. Nevada Artists Association presents the Winter Show. This is a judged show presenting a wide array of entries from Northern Nevada artists. This show runs through March 27.

Members of Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter, presented a check recently for $1,000 to the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The money has been earmarked to upgrade the software, screen, and printing mechanism in the Gravesite Locator.

A 39-year-old Las Vegas woman was arrested in the 2700 block of N. Carson Street for DUI first, driving with an open container, and basic speed 21-30 mph over the limit, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.

Central Lyon County Fire and Storey County fire agencies were called Sunday afternoon to a structure fire in the 300 block of Martin Lane near Six Mile Canyon in the Mark Twain area.

Three people are in custody Sunday afternoon following a demonstration at a Bernie Sanders rally in Carson City in which topless protestors interrupted the rally asking Sanders to stop propping up the dairy industry, according to The Nevada Independent.

A man who was stabbed after allegedly and possibly at random entered a Woodside Drive home late Saturday night has died, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is having a Cottonwood Wrapping volunteer event! We will be installing mesh wire around the base of Cottonwood trees to protect them from being damaged by beavers.

Ever spend some time watching high school students having fun? They do it so naturally. There is no lack of excitement happening at Carson High School, and one of the more amazing aspects of this high school is everyone is invited to attend every event.

The Carson City Senior Center will be holding Welcome Wednesday Lunches on the third Wednesday of every month beginning February 19, at 10:30 a.m.

The Carson High School Annual Talent Show was hosted earlier this week by Carson High School's Future Business Leaders of America students, with cash prizes sponsored by Adam's Hub. Funds raised by the talent show go toward state and national competitions.

Join Muscle Powered for a free, guided bike ride this Sunday. Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building. For Sunday's ride, meet at 9 a.m. at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Rd, Carson City in the south parking lot, next to the Linear Ditch Trail.

At 4 p.m., a two vehicle crash was reported at Spooner Junction and Carson Street.

Injuries are unknown at this time.

The first ever early voting in Carson City welcomed huge crowds Saturday as Democrats went to cast their ballots for this years presidential nominee.

In reaction to problems encountered in Iowa, the Nevada State Democratic Party has made significant changes to how their presidential precinct caucuses will be conducted on Saturday, February 22nd, as well as at the early voting sites through Tuesday the 18th. Those revised procedures will be the topic at the next Democratic luncheon.
