Carson City deputies make DUI, felony warrant arrests
A 30-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, failure to obey a police officer and basic speeding, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 50 West of Carson Street. At around 1:08 a.m. the officer confirmed a vehicle going 76 mph in a posted 50 mph zone. The officer activated his overhead lights and then a siren. There were no other vehicles on the road. The vehicle continued and did not pull over.
Additional units were called out via radio. The vehicle finally came to a stop at I-580 and Highway 50 East. Because the vehicle didn't stop, the deputy completed a felony traffic stop and placed the man, listed from Reno, in handcuffs, the report states.
The man advised he had been drinking alcohol and had red watery eyes, and a moderate odor of alcohol coming from his person, the report states. A canine was deployed, alerted positive and a search of the vehicle was done in which there wasn't any contraband located, the report states.
The man was read his Miranda warning and signed a rights waiver. He was advised that he was being investigated for DUI. The man submitted to standardized field sobriety tests, which he could not complete satisfactorily, the arrest report states. The man advised he would submit to a blood test. Bail amount listed: $1,901.
— A 66-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Thursday, 2:09 a.m. in the 1900 block of South Carson Street for suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report, deputies were advised by a reporting party (RP) of an intoxicated man who left a restaurant, stumbling over furniture and mentioned he was going to "sober up" at a nearby casino. The man drove away.
Deputies located the vehicle in the parking lot and a sergeant advised that he had encountered the man on previous calls. Deputies went into the casino and asked the man if he would step outside. The man agreed and agreed to participate in field sobriety tests, the arrest report states.
The reporting party verified the man's identity and completed a statement form. The man showed signs of impairment during the field sobriety tests. He provided a partial PBT with a result of .119. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he agreed to a blood test. Bail: $1,137.
— A 36-year-old Stagecoach man, Stephen Jones, was taken into custody early Thursday morning for a felony warrant alleging obtaining money under false pretenses. The warrant was issued in September 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $20,000.
— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 8:58 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Carson Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant. Bail: $215.
