On January 19, 2024, at approximately 1400 hours, the Carson City Special Enforcement Team (SET) received information in regards to 29 Heaven Hill Way in Carson City.

SET Detectives learned that Clayton Enox was living at 29 Heaven Hill Way and he was required to register as an ex-felon due to his prior 2 convicted felonies and he was not current with his address.

With the support of a generous and caring community, the Carson City Senior Center brought Christmas cheer to homebound seniors and clients of the Carson City Public Guardian this holiday season through its Adopt-A-Senior Program by delivering 990 personal gifts.

Robert “Bob” Sullivan passed away on January 12, 2024, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in December, 1944 in Vineburg, California to Ralph and Merle Sullivan, Bob spent his youth in the Sacramento Valley, graduating from Dixon High School in 1962.

On Friday night, multiple calls came into Carson City dispatch stating that an individual had fired a weapon several times in the area of N. Stewart Street.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the 600 block of N. Stewart just after 7:30 p.m. to search for the suspect. Callers advised the suspect had a red hat, dark clothing and a backpack.

The Lyon County Board of County Commissioners met on Thursday, January 18, 2024 and approved a purchase agreement and escrow instructions between Lyon County and Stan Lucas for the purchase of a 7.4 acre parcel in the Traditions Project for $3,991,250 for the development of the Dayton Government Complex Project.

Meet Piglet, a big, handsome neutered guy who is up-to-date on all his shots. He is short-haired, basically a tabby with lots of beautiful white fur on his chest, legs and face, and big green eyes.

UPDATE Saturday: According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, one individual was arrested in relation to the shooting. Several shots were fired into the air, and no one was injured or threatened.

The suspect was a recently released prison inmate.

Carson City deputies are responding to an alleged attempted shooting that occurred just after 7:30 p.m. Friday in the area of the Freedom Flats apartment complex.

Five to six witnesses called dispatch to report shots fired, stating that a man had fired a gun into the air.

On Friday, a ribbon cutting celebration was held to unveil the finished student housing project on South Carson Street, which was built to offer affordable housing to college students and their families.

The student housing project dormitories are an extension of FISH’s program FastForward4Families, which allows underemployed individuals the chance to pursue higher education through a technical training program at Western Nevada College, while assisting with rent and living expenses.

Sonoma Park will be closed January 22nd – January 26th, for fence maintenance and repairs.

During the closure, a fence contractor will be replacing fencing throughout the park. Please avoid this area and take this opportunity to visit other playgrounds and dog friendly parks throughout the city.

According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) December 2023 economic report, Nevada’s unemployment rate was unchanged from November to December with the rate staying at 5.4 percent. The labor force in the state grew by about 6,300, marking a year straight of over the month labor force growth in Nevada, and giving Nevada its largest labor force ever of over 1.62 million.
