NDOT webinar Wednesday to give electric vehicle infrastructure update after $38M infusion
CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Transportation invites the public to a webinar to receive an update on the Department’s progress and future plans to support a collaborative and reliable statewide electric vehicle (EV) charging network.
The Microsoft Teams webinar will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 1-2 p.m. and will be available online later for those unable to attend.
As part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, NDOT will receive more than $38 million through fiscal year (FY) 2026 to support the buildout of EV charging infrastructure, promote EV adoption, and support an electrified economy.
NDOT’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Plan is Nevada’s strategy to spend those funds. The plan supports the Department’s mission to provide, operate, and preserve a transportation system that enhances safety, quality of life and economic development through innovation, environmental stewardship, and a dedicated workforce.
NDOT has received federal approval of the Nevada NEVI FY 2024 Plan. This plan builds upon the state’s first NEVI Plan, which was federally approved in September 2022. The first NEVI Plan focused on coordinating with electric providers and creating a prioritization process to identify and select charging locations that best serve the needs of Nevada’s residents and ensure regular access to charging on the state’s interstate highways, or Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs).
Nevada’s goal is to achieve “Fully Built-Out” status along AFCs. With some exceptions, this generally means that travelers can expect to find a fast-charging station every 50 miles in close proximity to the interstate. NDOT’s efforts are part of a nationwide movement to ensure a convenient, affordable, reliable, and equitable charging experience for all users.
Given this ongoing effort, NDOT is excited to host a public webinar to share current and future EV infrastructure plans. Join us to learn more, ask questions, share thoughts, and get involved to help shape EV charging in Nevada.
