Erich Obermayr announces bid for Nevada Assembly District 39
Erich Obermayr, a long-time Lyon County resident, and Chair of the Comstock Democratic Club, announced this week he is running for Nevada Assembly District 39.
The campaign will kick off on Saturday, Jan. 20 with events in Douglas County Headquarters, 1758 U. S. Hwy. 395N Suite K in Minden from noon until 2 p.m. Then the campaign launch continues in Lyon County at the Silver City Community Center 385 High Street Silver City from 4-6 pm.
In a time of political extremism, District 39 needs an assemblyman who can focus on the basics of governing: passing legislation that advances economic opportunity, health, education, safety, and quality of life for all Nevadans.
Mr. Obermayr will bring an open mind, diligence, and dignity to the office. He understands the best legislative outcomes often require bipartisanship, compromise, and respect for the ideas of others. He also knows a good legislator has to be willing to stand, sometimes without wavering, for fundamental principles of good government, sometimes without wavering.
Mr. Obermayr’s career has taken him from minimum wage jobs through earning a comfortable professional living. He has also experienced the challenges and satisfaction of being his own boss as a small business owner. He found a trade as a field archaeologist, which led to a career in cultural resource management, and he has written widely about Nevada history and archaeology.
Mr. Obermayr is currently Chair of the Silver City Citizen Advisory Board. His many years of service on that Board have given him an understanding of the workings of government, and the importance of ethics and good judgement on the part of those who hold public office.
