Lyon County Commissioners hear law enforcement update, Dayton Government Complex Project and more
The Lyon County Board of County Commissioners met on Thursday, January 18, 2024 and approved a purchase agreement and escrow instructions between Lyon County and Stan Lucas for the purchase of a 7.4 acre parcel in the Traditions Project for $3,991,250 for the development of the Dayton Government Complex Project.
Citizen Advisory Boards
Commissioners heard a presentation from the County Manager’s Office on the current application process for appointment to the Citizen Advisory Boards and discussed strategies to recruit for vacancies. A public notice for open board positions is posted to the Lyon County website which includes a regular application or an e-signature application. 2023 Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Annual Report
Sheriff Pope presented the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office 2023 Annual Report, including an update to the agency’s mission statement, information on the organizational restructure and new programs, and improved response times. The full report is available to view on the Sheriff’s Office website.
Other Board Action Items
Commissioners also took action on the following items:
· Proclaimed January as National Radon Action Month (NRAM) in Lyon County.
· Approved an amendment to the Food Service Agreement with Trinity Food Services, the meal provider for the Lyon County jail, to increase meal costs by five cents per meal to for an overall increase of approximately $5,475 to be funded by a budget transfer from the General Fund contingency.
· Appointed Chris Gonzales as Chair for the first meeting of the Dayton Regional Advisory Board.
· Appointed Jim Davis (term expiring December 31, 2025) and Ronald Wyman (term expiring December 21, 2024) to the Dayton Regional Advisory Board.
· Acknowledged the resignation of Michael Irvine and Stacey Sell from the Silver Springs Advisory Board.
· Appointed Adam McGuire to the Silver Springs Advisory Board (term expiring December 31, 2025).
· Directed the County Manager to prepare and prioritize the list of potential Community Project Funding requests from the Nevada Congressional Delegation ahead of the 2024 National Association of Counties Legislative Conference in Washington DC in February.
