A massive early March storm has all but restored the snowpack across Nevada to median levels after what started as an abysmally low snow year in many locations.

Travel Nevada has chosen Virginia City, Carson City and Carson Valley to collaborate on a joint Cultural Corridor project aimed at bolstering the regional tourism economy while promoting and preserving local arts, culture, history and heritage.

The Carson High School community is mourning the loss of a teenage male student who died Sunday. The following is a statement from Carson City School District Superintendent Andrew Feuling.

Six students from across Nevada will take the stage at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts on March 9 to compete in the 19th Annual Poetry Out Loud Nevada State Finals, a national arts education program and competition supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation.

Carson City Supervisor Lisa Schuette filed for re-election Monday. Schuette represents Ward 4. “My goal has always been to do the best job possible and I do this by taking the time to learn about all sides of the issues that come before the board,” she said. “I strive to ensure the best possible outcome for our city and its residents.”

UPDATE: While much of the weekend winter storm has passed, it has left a number of road closures Monday morning across Northern Nevada, including I-580 through Washoe Valley. For those hoping to get over the Sierra via I-80 over Donner Pass, it is now opened as of late Monday morning.

All Carson City School District schools will observe a delayed 2-hour schedule Monday, March 4, 2024. Buses will also operate on a 2-hour delay, so arrival times will be approximately 2-hours later than usual. There will be no Pre-School classes or breakfast served at school.
