Carson City TRIAD presents Fire and Fall Prevention for Older Adults, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

CARSON CITY — The Silver State Model T Ford Club will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Red’s Old 395 Grill, 10455 S. Carson Street in Carson City.

Optional no-host dinner precedes the meeting at 6:00 p.m. Anyone interested in Model T Ford cars or trucks is welcome to attend.

This club is organized to have fun, go on tours and help each other with our Model Ts. Spouses are also welcome.

A 27-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of indecent exposure in an incident that allegedly happened in front of children and customers at an East William Street store, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

CARSON CITY — Nevada Department of Public Safety Director George Togliatti announced the appointment of Daniel Solow as Colonel of the Nevada Highway Patrol effective Monday, Nov. 8, 2019.

Colonel Solow was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in December 2017 and has been with the Department since 1995, beginning his career with the Nevada DPS as a Trooper serving the Laughlin/Searchlight district. The previous NHP Colonel, John O'Rourke, retired in August 2019.

Carmela A Porcella Inman passed unexpectedly on Nov. 8, 2019. Carmela was born Feb. 16, 1958 in Long Island, New York. She was born to the late Roger Porcella and Audrey DeLuca Porcella, and is survived by her husband William Inman who was the love of her life, Mother Audrey DeLuca Porcella, Brother Roger Porcella and wife Karen, sister Mary Beth and husband Brad, 4 nieces and nephews, 9 great nieces and nephews whom she adored.

UPDATE 8:56PM: The 60-year-old male pedestrian in Tuesday evening's accident was flown to Renown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to CCSO. The driver of the vehicle that struck him was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected. NHP is investigating a separate incident, a hit and run crash, in which a vehicle struck a parked CCSO patrol vehicle and then fled the scene. The parked patrol vehicle was on the scene of the pedestrian crash.

A vehicle crash late Tuesday afternoon involving a motorcycle and SUV that caused serious injury has shut down traffic on US-95A near Silver Springs, according to the The Nevada Highway Patrol.

Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators are asking for the public's help with information regarding vehicles that were burglarized early Sunday at Carson Tahoe Hospital.

Going into Monday, Nov. 11, 2019 it is Veterans Day. Federal, state and local government offices and schools are closed to observe the holiday. Thank you U.S. Veterans for your service to our great country. There are a number of organized happenings in the region, including parades in Virginia City and Reno, as well as events in South Lake Tahoe and Sparks. Plus a number of Carson City and Carson Valley restaurants are offering no cost meals as a gesture of gratitude to veterans and active duty military members. Also Monday is a discussion on homeless issues with local advocate and champion for those who are often without a voice, Dee Dee Foremaster.

College President Vincent Solis greets more than 500 Northern Nevada high school seniors who toured Western Nevada College Thursday for the annual Nevada Promise Senior Work Day. Students learned more about the Promise Scholarship requirements, WNC programs, campus resources and community service organizations.

UPDATE: NHP said it had all lanes cleared at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. The cause of the two-vehicle crash is under investigation.
