Carson City man jailed for attempted murder, allegedly beat victim with large rock
A man was extradited to Carson City from Arizona on Sunday and faces felony charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and domestic battery with a weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm following an incident last month, a CCSO sheriff's detective said.
Richard Pura, 53, was returned to Carson City via Carson City Sheriff's Office where he was being held at a Kingman, Ariz., jail. The warrants for his arrest were issued Oct. 23, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court.
According to a Carson City sheriff's detective, Pura was arrested after an incident Oct. 8 in the hills off of Sierra Vista Lane in which he allegedly beat his ex-wife with an approximately 50 pound rock, as well as his hands, fists and held a stick on her throat over a course of multiple hours.
The suspect fled and the victim, during daylight, was able to crawl to a dirt road where she was found by a passerby severely bloody and beaten. The woman was taken to the hospital and suffered from multiple fractures to the face.
Pura has been arrested four other times for domestic battery on the same victim. Bail: $150,000.
