UPDATE 10:39PM: One suspect is in custody Friday night after surrendering to the Carson City Sheriff's Office MOST team following a standoff in the 1300 block of North Edmonds. Residents can return to their homes. There were no injuries and no shots were fired, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

On Nov. 8, voters in Lyon County will decide on county Question 1 which would change two existing fire stations currently staffed with volunteers into full-time staffed firefighters-paramedics stations in the Central Lyon County Fire Protection District. More than 650 NV Energy customers in Carson City were without power Friday morning due to multiple outage areas. The cause of the outage is under investigation.

A fire late Thursday night heavily damaged the historic Fox Hotel and two other buildings at the corner of Main and Gate Street in Dayton.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Elizabeth Mercedes Krause, Democratic candidate for Nevada District 2 of the US House of Representatives. In the June 14 Democratic primary, Mercedes came in first with 47% of the vote out of a field of seven candidate. In the November 8 four-way general election, she will face off against Republican incumbent Mark Amodei as well as Independent American Russell Best and Libertarian Darryl Baber. Early voting begins on Saturday, October 22nd.

Halloween begins early as the Carson City Classic Cinema Club 2nd Unit presents the 10 horror films created by local amateur filmmakers for this year's Carson Creepy Short Horror Film Competition.

An unknown device found at a storage facility shed in the area of Saliman and 5th Street in Carson City prompted a precautionary evacuation of homes in the area early Thursday afternoon, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The Tubes "Outside Inside Tour" is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of their album that included their popular song "She's A Beauty" They will be performing at The Alpine in Reno on Oct. 27.

UPDATE: A fire overnight severely damaged a North Minnesota Street building located in the west side of Carson City's historic district.

On October 12, 2022, at 1207 p.m., Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Detectives located a suspicious vehicle the parking lot of Pioneer Casino located at 1705 Highway 50 Alternate in Fernley. Detectives conducted surveillance of the vehicle determined that it was reported stolen.
