Partnership launches Nevada web-based map with thousands of miles of recreational trails

Nevada outdoor recreation partners are excited to announce the launch of Nevada Trail Finder, a free, web-based mapping resource designed to help Nevadans and visitors discover thousands of miles of trails across Nevada’s abundant public lands and waterways.
This user-friendly, digital mapping platform provides detailed trail description pages allowing outdoor recreationists to explore Nevada’s vibrant trail systems, download maps for offline use, get essential information and planning tools, learn tips for responsible and sustainable recreation, submit trip comments and photos, and much more.
Additionally, the public can use Nevada Trail Finder to track their personal trail experiences, noting trails they have explored, their favorites, or ones they want to visit.
Nevada Trail Finder currently features over 150 trail systems spanning every region throughout the state. New trails will continue to be added on an ongoing basis, so be sure to check the website regularly to discover new trails and adventures.
Nevada Trail Finder was developed by multiple state, federal, and nonprofit partners including:
— Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation, Nevada Division of State Parks, Nevada Off-Highway Vehicles Program)
— The Great Basin Institute
— Travel Nevada
— Bureau of Land Management; and U.S. Forest Service.

Others praised the launch as a step forward for outdoor recreation in Nevada.

"No matter the skill level, Nevada’s vast landscapes are meant for exploration, and this site paves the way to identify recreational opportunities statewide.”
Miles Gurtler, Recreation Program Lead, Bureau of Land Management said “BLM Nevada is excited for the launch of the NV Trail Finder Website. We are sure this new tool will help the public find good, up-to-date information on where and how to recreate responsibly on public lands in Nevada. BLM Nevada is also excited to continue working with the State to keeping this resource as current and accurate as possible to provide the best information we can to the public. Mapping has always been a challenge for the vast public lands in Nevada and this tool is a great step in the right direction."
Bill Dunkelberger, Forest Supervisor, U.S. Forest Service notes “The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is happy to have worked with the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources on the Nevada Trail Finder website. Through this tool, the public will have a one-stop-shop for information on trail systems across Nevada, along with resources for responsible recreation to ensure the sustainability of our trails. We are committed to working with the State of Nevada to regularly and consistently deliver the most accurate and timely trail information to the public."
