STATELINE — Mont Bleu, a resort that has gone by three names and had five owners in 41 years, is playing a central role in the future of the South Lake Tahoe gaming market.

Eldorado Resorts CEO Thomas Reeg said the Reno-based company will need to sell at least one of the three casinos it will own in Tahoe once a $17.3 billion merger/buyout of Caesars Entertainment is completed early next year.

A four-hour interview of homicide suspect Sean Purdy in Reno Friday night has led to the discovery of the body of his father, 52-year-old Lance Purdy of Pine Grove, Calif.

At 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2020, detectives from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office met with the 20-year-old suspect at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, Nev. After approximately four hours of interviewing Sean, detectives said they were able to obtain a confession from Sean and the location of his father’s body.

The Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range will be closed from January 3-17, 2020, for lead reclamation operations. For safety reasons, all shooting activities, including reservations and public use, are canceled during construction.

Lead reclamation is an important environmental best practice for outdoor shooting ranges and is recommended by the National Rifle Association and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

Matt Parent of Carson City and Shawn Dixon of Reno have been friends since high school and both have been avid hunters their entire lives. So when Parent called Dixon to ask him to come look for a particular deer in Carson City last weekend, Dixon was more than happy to drive down.

The choir will meet in our beautiful Grand Ballroom under the direction of James Rossi.

As of 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, approximately 40 NV Energy Customers are without power in Carson City and Washoe Valley with damage to equipment being the cause.

According to NV Energy, all power to the three equipment points should be restored by 12:30 p.m.

The areas in Carson City lost power around 5:45 a.m. and 7:22 a.m., while Washoe Valley’s outage occurred around 7:21 a.m.

On January 2nd, Detectives from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, along with the Tri-County Gang Unit and the ATF, served a search warrant on a residence in Silver Springs. This warrant was in relation to an ongoing burglary investigation where several firearms were stolen from a Federal Firearms License holder in the Silver Springs area.

Around 12:30 on Friday afternoon, an issue at the intersection of Spooner Junction and Carson Street is causing a traffic problem in the area, and many motorists are stuck in traffic.

Motorists should avoid the area or seek alternate routes if possible.

Updates on the what is causing the traffic back up to follow as information becomes available.

A 61-year-old Washoe Valley woman and a 35-year-old Washoe Valley man were arrested in the area of E. William Street for possession of a controlled substance, Department of Alternative Sentencing violations, and wrong way driving.

A 43-year-old man was arrested by Carson City deputies in the 5100 block of S. Carson Street Thursday evening for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, a stop sign violation, not using a turn signal, and using a private drive to avoid traffic control devices.

According to the report, Jeffery Royce Atkins was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies after observing a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign when turning into a grocery store parking lot from Koontz.

Deputies advised the driver also failed to use a turn signal when entering the lot.

It is with heavy hearts that the Reno Police Department announces the death of one of our newest police officers. Officer Bradley Hartsell suffered an unforeseen medical issue while at his home on December 19, 2019.
