UPDATE: Law enforcement from Washoe County and throughout the region are searching for a man thought to be in the Incline Village area who is wanted in connection with a homicide.
The suspect, Sean Purdy, is a wanted fugitive from Amador County in California, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. According to South Tahoe Now, the suspect who is the subject of a large scale search in the Incline Village area of Lake Tahoe is wanted for questioning in the suspected murder of his 52-year-old father.
On January 1, around 4:37 p.m., deputies from the Amador County Sheriff's Office received a call from a woman who was concerned for her husband's welfare according to a press release from their office.
The caller said her husband, Lance Purdy of Pine Grove, had flown home to check on their 20-year-old son Sean Patrick Purdy as the couple had been out of state. When she didn't hear from her husband she called the sheriff's office. A neighbor said they saw the son leaving the family home quickly in a 2017 blue Subaru Outback. A large amount of blood in and around the residence at 12495 Kevkie Court was discovered by the same neighbor. As of this morning a body had not been recovered.
Amador County sheriff’s deputies responded to the home and discovered what appeared to be a homicide scene but there was no sign of Lance Purdy. An arrest warrant was issued for Sean Purdy for murder with an order to stop and detain the Subaru.
Purdy's vehicle was spotted at around 1 a.m. in the Incline Village area near Tahoe Boulevard and Village Boulevard. Law enforcement attempted to stop him but he fled on foot, officials said.
Assisting in the search are K-9 units, the Washoe RAVEN helicopter, along with the Nevada Highway Patrol and Placer County Sheriff's Office. Surrounding law enforcement agencies, including Carson City Sheriff's Office, Douglas County, Lyon County have been been alerted to be on the look-out for the at-large suspect.
Purdy is 20 years of age, described as 6 feet, 200 pounds, having blonde hair, wearing a black jacket. Washoe County Sheriff's Office advises that if you see him to report any suspicious activity by calling 911.
