Carson High School has an extensive collection of artifacts and memorabilia. Now, thanks to a grant from the Rotary Club of Carson City that collection is being housed, catalogued and preserved for future generations.

The Trash Mob is a fast-paced litter clean up event that takes place once a month in a park or open space area in Carson City. We get together on a Saturday for a focused hour of picking up garbage — a satisfying way to start the weekend.

June events launch the 2021 Summer Festival at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. On Sunday, June 13, at 10:00 am, author and entertainer CW Bayer will give a presentation on his book, Strychnine Banjo, written about Jake Wallace, Charley Rhoades and "The Days of '49.”

Carson City Girl Scout Troop 35 will be hosting a flag retirement ceremony on Monday, June 14 at 6 p.m. They are currently accepting flags in need of retirement. UPDATE 7 p.m.: On Friday evening the Carson City Sheriffs Office issued the following statement:

At approximately 7:00 p.m. today, 24-year-old Zachary Foore and 22-year-old Kenneth Frank were taken into custody without incident.

Zachary Foore is charged with three counts battery with a deadly weapon and Kenneth Frank is charged with accessory to battery with a deadly weapon.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office appreciates the assistance of Nevada Division of Investigations and the Washoe Tribal Police, along with the community’s vigilance.

On Friday, June 4, 2021 at about 9:49 PM the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to Mill’s Park to investigate a report that multiple people were involved in a fight near a carnival event.

An injury crash was reported at 12:16 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the intersection of E. Long and Roop Streets.

A Jeep apparently ran a red light and struck another vehicle.

At least one individual is complaining of an injury.

First responders are enroute.

Passion for Nevada’s wildlife and a commitment to conservation will be honored during the November Wildlife Commission meeting in Reno when Len Warren of The Nature Conservancy will receive the Commission’s Wayne E. Kirch Conservation Award.

A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3900 block of Sweetwater Drive Thursday after allegedly gouging a man’s eye, stealing a bike pump, and attempting to stab someone with a sickle.

Nearly 500 Carson High School Students donned their graduation caps and gowns Saturday for their commencement ceremony, celebrating all of their hard work these past 12+ years.

We are reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individual was a Carson City resident. We are also reporting 13 new cases and 15 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. UPDATE SAT. 8:30 a.m.: Carson City Sheriff Furlong stated Saturday morning that a press release with detailed information will be released before noon.

The carnival will be reopened today, and the sheriff’s office does not believe that the incident was affiliated with the carnival in anyway, but was off to the side of the carnival near the restrooms.

The sheriff stated that access to the area for first responders last night was difficult, and that the carnival operators stated the ground was far larger than they had been expecting.

The Nevada Day Store and Carson Now hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration at their new offices Thursday, complete with a performance by Carson High School Cheer and a donation to holiday with a hero.

A total of $2,800 was raised for the annual Holiday with a Hero, in which children are taken on a holiday shopping spree by a local first responder, and a check was presented.

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak signed into law Friday three bills that directly affect Nevada's indigenous tribes and communities, including providing free tuition for native students, outlawing sundown sirens and racially offensive mascots, and transfers management for the Stewart Indian School museum and cultural center.

NHP Investigating Fatal Crash at SR-445 and Sky Ranch Blvd
On Monday, May 31, 2021 at approximately 4:34 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers responded to an injury crash at SR-445 (Pyramid Way) and Sky Ranch Boulevard in Spanish Springs.

Gardnerville, NV- The Active 20 - 30 Club of Carson Valley has generously made a $5,000 contribution to the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department for youth participating in County sports programs.

The club is able to provide this donation because of their fundraising efforts such as the fun and successful Carson Valley Days event which is annually held the second week of June.

For the first time since the Chamber's inception in 1983, the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce awarded its inaugural scholarship at the Dayton High School Senior Class Awards Night held May 27th in the DHS gymnasium.

A large crowd of students, staff, families, and friends attended the event which awarded close to one million dollars (not official, but close!).

A horrific incident in January involving a vehicle crash within Sportsman’s Warehouse in Carson City that endangered many and left five injured was recalled Thursday by the Carson City Board of Supervisors. The heroic actions taken by Kayla Sue Testa saved a small girl and prevented heartbreak beyond injury.
