Carson City's Bank Saloon builder Miles Construction awarded Retail Development of the Year
For the second year in a row, Miles Construction, has been awarded Retail Development of the Year at the annual Summit Awards. This year, the diversified general contracting firm is honored for their work on the Bank Saloon in Carson City.
The annual awards acknowledge and recognize commercial real estate development and brokerage agencies for work completed in the prior year.
“This was a labor of love,” Bill Miles, president, Miles Construction, said. “We appreciate all the hard work and collaboration that went into saving this historic Carson City treasure. And a special thanks to Nevada Builder’s Alliance, as well as Carson City, for their support and efforts which really made this project possible.”
Despite the various obstacles that arose throughout the project including asbestos, a leaking roof, rotted floors, and residing pigeons, Miles and the team was able to save and restore the historic structure. They began by stabilizing the structure, asbestos abatement and laying out the floor plan with new finishes and new, modern equipment. The building retained its original, distinct Carson City architecture. The exterior walls, not sandstone as many have thought, are made of rhyolitic tuff quarried from the Eureka Mill area of the Carson River, a truly unique and distinctly local attribute of the historic building.
Today, the Bank Saloon, located at 418 South Carson Street, is open for business and houses the Nevada Builder’s Alliance offices. Find out more at BankSaloonNV.com.
