A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested for suspicion of felony violation of probation after being caught with a smart phone, which he was barred from having as terms of his probation, after calling deputies on report of an unconscious individual.

Monday, June 27 at 7pm, Chyornii & Dorado will present a program of classical chamber music at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City. Admission won’t be charged, however there will be both virtual and cash tipping available and encouraged.

Leo’s beloved family tearfully announces the passing of their irreplaceable husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known by those who loved him most as Papa. He peacefully fell asleep camping at Lake Lahontan and woke up in Heaven. He will be deeply missed.

A two vehicle crash with injuries was reported just after 6 p.m. Friday evening at Carson St. and Fleischmann.

First responders are en route to the scene.

The Nevada Division of Museums and History is pleased to announce that Josh Bonde, Ph.D., has been selected to serve as director of the Nevada State Museum in Carson City.

Several asphalt pathways throughout Carson City will be temporarily closed to complete maintenance June 20-24.

Maintenance activities will include crack sealing and slurry seal. Large construction equipment will be working on-site. Striping of the pathways will be completed June 27-28.

The 9th Annual Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day will be held on September 10th at the Empire Ranch Golf course.

Earlier this year, the Fritsch Elementary School Archery Team placed 2nd in the Nevada State Archery Competition for the 2021-2022 season after earning high marks for an elementary school. Last year, the team brought the State Title, trophy and honor home to Carson City for the first time in program history.

— A 26-year-old Dayton man was arrested for conspiracy to commit motor vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, DUI first, and obstruction.

According to the report, Austin Matthew Bradley was arrested after deputies were dispatched on a report of a stolen vehicle that had just occurred at a South Carson St. motel.

Multiple power outages have been reported in the Dayton area, the causes of which are currently under investigation according to NV Energy.

Nearly 700 residents across 6 outage points are reportedly in the dark. Restoration of power is estimated to be between 12:45 and 1:15 p.m. Friday afternoon.

United Way leads school readiness fun for preschoolers and parents on June 21

Silver City, Nevada - United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) will host a morning of fun and educational activities for preschoolers and their parents on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 10am to noon.

This Saturday comes with benefits in the Silver State as residents and visitors are invited to “Discover Nevada State Parks." Visitors will receive free day-use admission.

Also happening is Nevada Department of Wildlife's free day of fishing. This event allows anglers of all ages to fish without a license on any of Nevada's waterways.

The El Dorado National Forest Interpretive Association invites you to join docent Rita Borselli for a “Water Color Hike and Class” at Carson Pass this Saturday, June 11 at 10 a.m.

Participants will walk 1 1/4 miles to Frog Lake over a fairly level trail, where the instruction will take place. Rita and ENFIA will provide the supplies and materials but participants must carry them to the site.
