Dress up in fashionable attire and enjoy a live stream of the Kentucky Derby Race over a luncheon and traditional mint juleps. Featured artist will be Linda Ritter, owner of Pinyon Pottery, who will be using her portable potter’s wheel to demonstrate how she turns a lump of clay into a functional art piece. She will reveal how she came to love working with clay over the past year, embarking on her second career after retiring from government after 30 years of service.

They have been raising a ruckus in the Reno-Tahoe area for almost ten years with an intoxicating blend of primitive blues, ragtime, and country and western music of the late 1920s and early 1930s.

Lassaline invites the public to meet and interact with some of her fanciful characters, including the Highland Cow, Pashmina Goat, Mountain Bluebird, and Wild Burro. Her presentation is part of “The Work of Artists,” a series of programs scheduled throughout the legislative session. Admission is free.

This exciting program features eight seasons: "The Four Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi and "The Four Seasons in Buenos Aires" by Astor Piazzolla. Both are directed by David Bugli and feature guest violin soloist Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio and narrator Rita Geil. STRAZZ youth strings will join the orchestra in Vivaldi's Autumn and Winter.
South Lake Tahoe harpist Anne Roos worked on Grammy winning album
Submitted by editor on Mon, 02/09/2015 - 10:00pmCeltic harpist Anne Roos of South Lake Tahoe was part of the Grammy winning album, Winds of Samsara. The album won the Grammy in the best New Age category Sunday in Los Angeles.
Roos played on the track, Eyes of Wonder, which was recorded in Reno at Tanglewood Studios. The studio's President and Founder Michael Eardley engineered the track.
Midnight deadline tonight to register for BAC's St. Patrick's-themed filmmaking competition

Registration deadline has been extended to midnight, Wednesday, March 4.
Films cannot be less than 1 minute or more than 10 minutes in length. They must utilize one fact about St. Patrick's Day and can be Documentary or Mockumentary in nature.

King St., Carson City. At 6:30 p.m. Dani Canziani will teach an intermediate west coast swing lesson. Social dance is 7:30-10 p.m. Partners are not required. Lesson $7 for HSSDC and any swing dance club members or $10 for nonmembers; dance $7 for members of swing clubs and $10 for nonmembers. Join the club that night, and the dance is free. This is the month that Michelle Kinkaid's Fun Train dancers from the bay area join us.
Carson City chamber celebrates remodel with Artisan Showcase open house
Submitted by editor on Wed, 02/04/2015 - 5:10pmThe Carson City Chamber of Commerce held an open house Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 to unveil its new Artisan Showcase. The works of talented artists from within the region are now showcased along with metal artisan Robbie St Clair who created a special sculpture for the event.
The chamber recently finished an overhaul of its building including adding the Artisan Showcase where local art and jewelry are sold. It commissioned St Clair to recreate the Carson City freeway eagle to a size suitable for displaying in homes or on desks.
Rock art and coyote stories featured Saturday in kids program at Nevada State Museum

Guests will be challenged to look at images of Nevada rock art and ask how it fits into understanding American Indian culture and archaeology, what it is, where it came from and how it can be protected.
