Holiday crafts that celebrate the Nevada pine trees are on the agenda for the December program “Pines are Fine” at the Nevada State Museum, Carson City from 10 a.m. to 3.pm. Saturday, Dec. 12. No reservations are needed and guests of all ages are welcome.

The Brewery Arts Center is presenting the celtic sounds of “Noctambule” on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Maizie Harris Jesse Black Box Theater.

Marla Fibish and Bruce Victor are Noctambule. They play original and traditional music in a variety of forms – original musical settings of a broad array of poetry, original instrumental pieces, and traditional Irish tunes and songs. This unique collaboration brings out qualities in both of these seasoned musicians that you may not have heard from them before.

TACH (Traditional Association for Cultural Harmony) a non profit organization presents "Cross Cultural - World Music and Dance" on Dec 5th, 2015. This concert will present a collaboration of Indo-American artist, an Indian Dance, Indian Classical, Jazz, Fusion, Saxophone, Flute, Harp.

Please join us for our annual Holiday Faire showcasing local and regional artists and artisans within our historic building in Virginia City. The event is Saturday, December 5th from 10am - 5pm and will offer a variety of work for sale. Refreshments will also be available.

Our Winter Exhibition will also be on display, with our Opening Reception from 12pm - 5pm. Our winter artists, Karen Kreyeski, Linda Gamble, Gloria Beth and a collaboration with Becca Jane Rubinfeld, Brinton Jones and Miranda McFarland present a dynamic variety of work.

Carson City is one of 40 cities around the Nation bidding for a $25,000 award for a free summer music series. We are currently in 17th place and the Levitt Amp music series will be giving away 15 awards of $25,000 each.

The top 25 cities with the most votes will be eligible for the grant but the higher up you are on the list, the better chance you have for the cash award. The award is a matching grant with a total budget of $50,000.

The concerts will be regional artists and national touring bands along with a festival style local artist event, all free of charge and will take place on the Brewery Arts Center campus.

Carson City via the Brewery Arts Center is now in the running to bring a 10-week live music series to Carson City during the Summer of 2016.

Sponsored by Levitt Pavilions, the national nonprofit behind the largest free concert series in America, the Brewery Arts Center hopes to qualify as one of the 15 winning organizations competing in the Levitt AMP Carson City Grant Awards.

Perennial holiday favorite “The Nutcracker” as performed by the Pinkerton Ballet Theatre returns to Carson City Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 27-29. Featuring Erica Chipp of the Smuin Ballet in San Francisco as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Maykel Solas as Cavalier, this 27th year of performances is not to be missed.

The Brewery Arts Center is presenting the toe tapping sounds of “Whiskey Before Breakfast” on Saturday, November 28 at 7pm at 2015 in the Maizie Harris Jesse Black Box Theater.

Playing traditional Irish and Scottish tunes in the Northern NV/CA area Whiskey Before Breakfast is made up of artists from Reno, Nevada creating music under the Watersign Studios record label.

The 14th annual "Joyful Noise" Holiday Show takes place Dec. 10, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at the Black Box Theater at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 West King Street, Carson City.

It's a Holiday Treat for al l— a feast of seasonal and holiday entertainment in many styles! The Carson City Symphony presents the 32nd annual Holiday Treat concert on Sunday, Dec. 13, 4 p.m., at the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center.

TOCCATA - Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus announces its 10th annual production of Handel’s Messiah with performances in five distinct locations, including Carson City. The Reno-Tahoe-Truckee community can continue enjoying the wonderful holiday tradition of TOCCATA’s Messiah production.

Strings in the Schools, Carson City Symphony's after-school program, presents its sixth annual "This is Not a Christmas Concert" on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.

Construction management instructors Bob Ford, Nigel Harrison and welding instructor Randy Naylor at Western Nevada College have played critical roles in building the sets for Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company’s production of “Mary Poppins" that runs this weekend in Carson City.

Consort Canzona, a select group of instrumentalists and singers that specializes in early music, will present two “Lessons and Carols” concerts this Christmas season.

With the holiday season now in full swing, it’s only appropriate that the Reno Jazz Orchestra (RJO) brings Jazz for the Holidays to Northern Nevada for all to enjoy on December 19th and 20 at Nightingale Hall - University of Nevada. The holiday season comes to life with the Reno Phil’s annual celebration, Spirit of the Season, Dec. 5 and 6 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.

The works of four Carson City artists were recognized Monday in a statewide art contest using recyclable material.
Student artists Stella Thornton and Jessica Preston, and adult artists Lisa Sheppard and Emily J. Cervi were listed as having either placed or received honorable mentions as part of the contest to recognize America Recycles Day.

Once again, Cherie Shipley and Lake Tahoe Entertainment present the 14th Annual Community Holiday Show Joyful Noise. The event will be Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, 7:30 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center Black Box Theater.

What is Joyful Noise? 

It’s an energetic musical evening of smiles and inspiration! Who will join the Conga line this year? Experience “down-home” comfort and joy with these talented performers.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents its Christmas dance party Dec. 5th at the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson City. There will not be a lesson. At 6:30 p.m. there will be a members appreciation dinner catered by Mitch Tufts. Join the club that night and dinner and dance are free. Otherwise the dinner is $10. Ready for the weekend, Carson City? The weather should hold up on Saturday, but no promises on Sunday. Hit the slopes if you are so inclined, several Tahoe resorts have opened for the season. Runners should head out to Washoe Lake State Park for the first of the Be Bold, Run in the Cold series sponsored by Ascent Runs. If you prefer something warmer, head to Crossroads Lounge for their Grand Re-opening. It’s under new ownership and is sure to have something to keep you toasty.
