Pines are the focus of holiday program for families at Nevada State Museum

Holiday crafts that celebrate the Nevada pine trees are on the agenda for the December program “Pines are Fine” at the Nevada State Museum, Carson City from 10 a.m. to 3.pm. Saturday, Dec. 12. No reservations are needed and guests of all ages are welcome.

San Francisco duo "Noctambule" plays the Brewery Arts Center

The Brewery Arts Center is presenting the celtic sounds of “Noctambule” on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Maizie Harris Jesse Black Box Theater.

Marla Fibish and Bruce Victor are Noctambule. They play original and traditional music in a variety of forms – original musical settings of a broad array of poetry, original instrumental pieces, and traditional Irish tunes and songs. This unique collaboration brings out qualities in both of these seasoned musicians that you may not have heard from them before.

Cross Culture World Music and Dance

Our Winter Exhibition will also be on display, with our Opening Reception from 12pm - 5pm. Our winter artists, Karen Kreyeski, Linda Gamble, Gloria Beth and a collaboration with Becca Jane Rubinfeld, Brinton Jones and Miranda McFarland present a dynamic variety of work.

Today is the final day to vote for national grant to bring music series to Carson City

Carson City is one of 40 cities around the Nation bidding for a $25,000 award for a free summer music series. We are currently in 17th place and the Levitt Amp music series will be giving away 15 awards of $25,000 each.

The top 25 cities with the most votes will be eligible for the grant but the higher up you are on the list, the better chance you have for the cash award. The award is a matching grant with a total budget of $50,000.

The concerts will be regional artists and national touring bands along with a festival style local artist event, all free of charge and will take place on the Brewery Arts Center campus.

Carson City via the Brewery Arts Center is now in the running to bring a 10-week live music series to Carson City during the Summer of 2016.

Sponsored by Levitt Pavilions, the national nonprofit behind the largest free concert series in America, the Brewery Arts Center hopes to qualify as one of the 15 winning organizations competing in the Levitt AMP Carson City Grant Awards.

Artists in Carson City, statewide bring new life to recyclables

The works of four Carson City artists were recognized Monday in a statewide art contest using recyclable material.
Student artists Stella Thornton and Jessica Preston, and adult artists Lisa Sheppard and Emily J. Cervi were listed as having either placed or received honorable mentions as part of the contest to recognize America Recycles Day.
