CHILDREN'S POTTERY WHEEL CLASS WITH SARAH REESOR

They will be learning techniques needed for beginning wheel throwing, trimming on the wheel, and the basics of glazing--while making pieces of art that will be treasured for years to come. This wheel-throwing will run from 4-5:30 pm for 3 weeks on Thursday afternoons from December 3 - December 17 (please note this will be a finishing class only, no new projects). Tuition includes all materials. $90.

Mark Maynard, author of “Grind,” and Laura McBride, author of “We Are Called to Rise,” will be awarded with the 2015 Silver Pen.

Downtown Dayton's Haunted Hayride into Nevada History

Light refreshments served, visit the museum, play kids games. This is a free family friendly night. The hayride loads at the Dayton Museum at Shady Lane at Logan Alley. The event and rides are Thursday, Oct. 29 from 5PM to 8PM. Come take a ride into the past.

This is the perfect opportunity to be creative for the holidays! Day 1 we will learn how to make a mask for Dia de los Muertos or for Halloween! Day 2, 3, and 4 we will learn how to construct a mug, a box and a rattle sculpture.

WordWave literary festival this weekend in South Lake Tahoe

This literary mash-up features oral storytelling, theater performances and free readings, panels on craft, yoga, and a novel writing camp for kids.

Swan Lake ballet canceled, tickets to be refunded

Anyone who charged their tickets will be automatically refunded. If you paid cash you need to bring your ticket back to the Carson City Visitors Bureau, 716 N. Carson St. for a refund.

The Russian Grand Ballet is bringing “Swan Lake” to the Carson City Community Center on Sunday. The full-length classic production of the world’s most famous ballet —Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” — will be performed by Russia’s brightest ballet stars.
Liz Penniman Exhibit at the WNC Gallery

Her artistic roots are influenced by the San Francisco Bay Area Figurative Movement, and her education at the Art Student's League of New York focused first on classical portraiture and later on abstract expressionism. She currently lives and works in the North Tahoe/Truckee area and participates in The Reno Art Salon and Critique Circle.
WNC Main Gallery Showcases Narrative Painting

Showing now through Nov. 7, Penniman’s collection titled “Lines and Fields: Abstract Narrative Paintings” appears in the WNC Main Gallery.

Maestro Theodore Kuchar also leads the Orchestra in a symphony by Mozart made famous in the film Amadeus, as well as the delightful “Classical” Symphony by Prokofiev.

The monthly Family Fun Saturdays series gets kids involved in many aspects of the museum, from Nevada history to cultural and nature studies. October’s event features Xabier Irujo, co-director at the Center for Basque Studies at UNR, his five young children and several special guests who will entertain and share culture and heritage.
