Education union spokesman featured at Democratic tele-luncheon

Featured speaker at Monday's Democratic tele-luncheon will be Alexander Marks, Communications Director for the Nevada State Education Association. A school union, the NSEA is the largest education association in the state of Nevada, and is an affiliate of the National Education Association. Using a PowerPoint, Alex will present background information and research reports on a variety of issues affecting education in Nevada.

Quad County COVID-19 Thursday report: Vaccinations for 65 and older begin Monday; 35 new cases, 49 recoveries

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 that there are 35 new cases and 49 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region. This brings the total number of cases to 11,196, with 8,897 recoveries and 207 deaths; 2,092 cases remain active.

Carson City’s Elizondo boxes Saturday in national TV bout

An underdog once again, Carson City’s Diego Elizondo boxes Saturday in a nationally televised bout.

The 22-year-old lightweight with a 3-2-2 record will face highly touted Anthony Cuba, who won his professional debut Oct. 31 with a second-round knockout. In previous televised fight cards, it was uncertain beforehand whether Elizondo’s bout would be included on the broadcast. Not this time.

Carson City Planning Commission revokes Tahoe Western Asphalt permit following 'hundreds' of complaints

The Carson City Planning Commission voted unanimously to revoke the Special Use Permit for Tahoe Western Asphalt Plant after finding there was evidence of failure to comply with conditions of the permit and that the business was creating a public nuisance that is detrimental to the public health, safety, and welfare, including emitting noxious odors into surrounding neighborhoods.
