Carson City sheriff's investigators arrest suspect in construction trailer theft
A suspect was taken into custody Thursday afternoon in connection to the theft of a utility trailer from a Carson City construction site earlier this week.
Carson City Sheriff's Office detectives investigating the case had alerted outside law enforcement agencies to keep an eye out for a White Dodge 2500 diesel truck with black custom wheels that was seen in videos arriving and leaving a construction site on Red Leaf Drive in the Silver Oak area on Feb. 23.
The truck left the construction site where the driver had allegedly stole a utility dump trailer with wood side rails. See video here.
Detectives provided nearby Douglas and Lyon County law enforcement video footage and photos of the suspect vehicle and stolen trailer.
An off-duty Lyon County law enforcement officer located the suspect truck and stolen trailer late Thursday morning near Costco in south Carson City and alerted Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators.
The adult male suspect was taken into custody. Carson City Sheriff's Office Detective Sam Hatley said the trailer wood side panel had been altered with spray paint and the license plate associated with the trailer was found in the suspect's pickup.
