Lyon County Board of Commissioners to prioritize future Public Works projects
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 02/28/2021 - 8:59amThe Lyon County Board of Commissioners will be asked Thursday, March 4 to prioritize a number of Public Works jobs to be pre-engineered, engineered. The goal of the agenda item is develop a list of projects and prioritize them for pre-engineering, engineering for future federal and state grant funding opportunities. Many granting agencies require projects to be near shovel ready to be considered.
Senator Square: Carson High music auditions, plus NJROTC cadets hold virtual unit inspection

All Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp programs are required to be inspected by the Area Manager, who is the liaison between the units and the US Navy, at least once every other academic school year to determine whether or not requirements and standards for retention of units in the program are being met.
Lyon County Library increases hours at Silver Springs, Fernley branches

Carson City Rotarians to Learn about CASI Programs

Spring and Summer events in Carson City are being tentatively planned, dependent on lifting COVID restrictions

With restrictions loosened on Feb. 15 in a “safe reopening” effort through May 1, regional event coordinators have begun to plan 2021 entertainment in anticipation of lifted regulations.

DETR: Little change in initial claims; Regular continued claims see largest decline in 2021
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 02/27/2021 - 10:03amFor the week ending February 20, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 7,509, up 131 claims, or 1.8 percent, compared to the previous week’s total of 7,378 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).
Through the week ending February 20, there have been a total of 858,978 initial claims filed since the week ending March 14, 2020.
