Douglas runs over Carson High, 36-22, to even Army-Navy score
Last year, the Carson High Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) took down the Douglas High Army JROTC for the trophy in the inaugural Army-Navy flag football game between the two rival schools.
Making the loss more difficult for the Tigers to swallow was the fact that the Senators defeated them on their home field in Minden.
But this year, Douglas returned the favor to Carson High Saturday by running away with a 36-22 victory on the Carson High School football field.
The Tigers' victory evens the rivalry at 1-1 in the series, which started in 2015.
Blustery conditions seemed favorable to Navy, which held its ground early and kept pace with Army through the first quarter.
Douglas held a slight four-point advantage over the Senators just before half time. Its lead was extended considerably in the third quarter, going up 16 points on host Carson High.
The deficit proved too much for the Carson High Navy to overcome against the Douglas High Army.
