Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man jailed on suspicion of felony third domestic battery

A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony third offense domestic battery after allegedly punching his brother repeatedly, sending him to the hospital emergency room, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Juan Luis Bedoy-Zarate was booked into custody at 7:47 p.m. in the 100 block of East Hampton Drive. He also faces a felony charge of domestic battery with substantial bodily harm. His bail has been set at $30,000.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a Rawhide Way address and learned the victim had been hit repeatedly and thrown to the ground by his brother. The victim escaped, driving to his parents to avoid further confrontation. The victim was treated by Carson City Fire Department personnel. They informed deputies he suffered a possible broken nose during the incident that required him to go to the hospital emergency room, the arrest report states.

Deputies met with the suspect who confirmed he had been in an altercation. He refused to give many details, only stating the two had been in the altercation, the arrest report states. He did not have any injuries on him. It was determined he was the primary aggressor and he was arrested. He stated that he had been convicted twice of domestic battery in the past three years, the booking report states.

In other arrests: A 20-year-old Carson City man, Alejandro Guerrero, was arrested in the 2600 block of Sherman Lane on a felony burglary warrant and felony probation violation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to a Dori Way address for a report of a suspicious subject. Officers arrived and met with several people on the street who said it was Guerrero and that he has warrant for his arrest. It was also learned that he may have been carrying a gun.

The suspect was spotted on the south side of a residence and then began to run through several backyards. Deputies located him in the backyard of a Sherman Lane address. He was arrested. Deputies later located a bag containing a methamphetamine pipe and black BB gun that looked similar to a real gun, in the backyard of a Sherman Drive residence. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 4:45 a.m. in the 4500 block of Muldoon Street on suspicion of trespassing and obstructing an officer. Bail: $654.

A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 11:08 p.m. in the area of College Parkway and Lompa Lane on suspicion of DUI, driving without a valid driver’s license and speeding. According to the arrest report, the man was stopped for speeding, going 55 mph in a posted 40 mph zone. During the stop, the arresting officer observed a moderate odor of alcohol on the man’s breath. The suspect said he had two beers prior to driving. He submitted to field sobriety tests but did not do them as demonstrated. A preliminary breath test indicated he was over .08 and he was arrested. Bail: $1,441.

— A 47-year-old Carson City man as arrested Wednesday, 5:52 pm. in the 900 block of East Fifth Street on suspicion of misuse of calling 911. According to the arrest report, the man was stopped and question by officers after a report of an intoxicated man without a shirt attempting to pick fights with others on the street. Officers made contact with the suspect, detained him, but let him go because they were unable to locate the original reporting witness.

The suspect then called dispatch and said deputies had taken his keys. Officers told dispatch to tell the man that keys were never removed. The man demanded to speak with a deputy, according to the arrest report. Dispatch informed the deputy that the man again called 911 asking how long it would take for deputies to respond. Officers returned and arrested the man for misuse of 911. Bail: $2,500.

— A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 4:09 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Edmonds on suspicion of first offense domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the woman and the male victim got into an argument that escalated when the woman allegedly punched and scratched the man. Bail: $3,137.

— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 2:20 p.m. in the 100 block of East Long Street on suspicion of petty larceny. The woman allegedly took two sets of drapes from the FISH store and left without paying. Bail: $352.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 10 a.m. in the 600 block of East College Parkway on misdemeanor charges of DUI second offense and hit and run. According to the arrest report, the man allegedly attempted to buy alcohol at a gas station in the 3000 block of North Roop Street. He appeared disheveled and intoxicated and was not sold alcohol. He returned to his vehicle where he allegedly backed into a vehicle at the gas pump and then sped away, the arrest report states.

A deputy made contact with the driver, identified by a witness to the crash. The deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the man, as well as bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The man was cooperative and agreed to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. The deputy observed several clues of impairment. The man denied drinking alcohol. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .201 and was arrested. A blood draw was administered for evidence. Bail: $3,137.

— A 70-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 8:32 a.m. in the 200 block of West Caroline Street on a gross misdemeanor charge, indecent exposure. The man allegedly urinated on the floor and walls of an apartment building. Bail: $2,637.

— A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 7:17 a.m. in the area of Airport Road and Highway 50 East on five misdemeanor charges: driving on a suspended registration, expired plates, no insurance, having a suspended driver’s license and a failure to appear in traffic court warrant. Bail: $2,183.

On May 18, 2024, at around 12:50 a.m., Carson City Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Christopher Gorham. A drug-detection canine was used to conduct a sniff of the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia along with an explosive device.

An 1884 Carson City Morgan silver dollar donated by Northern Nevada Coin is being raffled by the Friends of the Nevada State Museum. A 63-year-old housekeeper was arrested Thursday for 14 counts of credit card fraud and other offenses after allegedly stealing a credit card belonging to an 86-year-old patient who family members said was being treated for a stroke at a local care facility, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office detective.

Marie Finkes is the director of FitzHenry’s Funeral Home in Carson City, and said that over the past year, there have been 12 bodies under her care that have been subject to extended stays. This is due to the fact that Carson City Public Administrator Scott Hoen has ignored their repeated requests for an electronic signature releasing the body for cremation.
