Sand Harbor Overlook hiking tour along Tahoe Rim Trail set for Sept. 17
Join Nevada State Parks for a ranger-led hike to the Sand Harbor Overlook of the Tahoe Rim Trail on Saturday, September 17. We’ll meet at Spooner Lake at 8:45 a.m. and carpool to the Marlette Peak Campground. From there we’ll hike 2 miles to the overlook. The magnificent views from the top stretch across the sparkling waters of Lake Tahoe and jagged peaks of the high sierra.
This is a moderate hike (4 miles total) so come prepared with sturdy boots, sunscreen, lunch, drinks or snacks and dress for the forecasted weather. Children eight years of age and older are welcome. 4WD is necessary and reservations are required by calling 775-831-0494. To minimize the number of vehicles, please let us know if you’re willing to take other passengers. The hike is free, but any donations to the park are greatly appreciated.
WHEN: Saturday, September 17, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: Spooner Lake State Park, on highway 28 just north of US-50.
COST: Event is free; however park entry fees apply per vehicle: $8 for Nevada residents, $10 for non-residents.
