Snow is on the way, per the National Weather Service
Winter Storm Warning In Effect Until 10 Am PST Sunday…
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for heavy snow …which is in effect until 10 am PST
Sunday.
* Snow will continue through tonight…with the heaviest snow
occurring between midnight and Sunday morning. Snow fall rates
of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible.
* Locations include…southern Washoe County…Carson City…
Storey County…northern Lyon County and eastern Churchill
County.
* Snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches on valley floors…mainly
north of Carson City…with up to 4 inches elsewhere. Snow
accumulations up to 10 inches above 5000 feet. Local snow
accumulations in the north valleys of Reno-Sparks…including
Cold Springs and Spanish Springs…will reach 8 to 10 inches by
Sunday morning.
* Heavy snow showers will produce hazardous driving conditions
along Interstate 80…and highways 50…95…341…and 395.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
Conditions can deteriorate rapidly during winter storms…slow
down and allow extra time when traveling. Carry tire chains…
food…water…blankets and a flashlight in your car in case of
