Mark Twain Days Festival is back this year, May 10-12, with some big changes. Visit Carson City approached the Brewery Arts Center and asked them to partner for the planning of the second year of the festival, which is held in honor of Mark Twain, our region’s most famous writer.

The "On the Map" exhibition features work by Jon Farber and Catherine Schmid-Maybach, two artists who show viewers creative possibilities for finding their way.

Visit Carson City is offering $5,000 to an adventurer willing to complete the Carson City to Canada Quest, a 1,600 mile hike that begins in Carson City, connects to the Pacific Coast Trail by way of the Capitol to Tahoe Trail, and through to Canada.

Miller Counseling is partnering with Douglas Center for Hope and Healing to offer grief support groups to Carson City and the surrounding rural communities Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Miller Counseling and Wellness Center is located at 104 W. Telegraph St. in Carson City.

The Center for Hope and Healing has been providing grief support to Douglas County for the last 10 years. The goal of building this partnership is to make the free support groups available and easier to access to more members of the Northern Nevada community.

Green Our Planet will host the second annual Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market on Wednesday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fuji Park on The Park Grass in Carson City. The Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market will feature approximately 10 schools throughout the northern part of the Silver State.

Bowers Mansion Programs on the Porch program begins in May with this year's theme is "Variety Edition." Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy this free series in front of the historic Bowers Mansion. Fridays from 7 to 8 p.m., May 17 through June 21.

The 42nd annual Chili on the Comstock returns to heat up Virginia City on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19. As a qualifier for the International Chili Society World Finals, guests can indulge in a diverse array of chili styles, from spicy to mild and chili verde, all expertly crafted by some of the finest chili cooks in the West.
