Aerial photo shows Carson River flooding from the clouds, Flood Watch in effect for Carson Valley
Carson Now reader Kim Nehrboss-Allen snapped this amazing aerial photo of the Carson River on Friday.
As can be seen in the photo, snowmelt rushing from sierras thanks to the quickly warming weather is causing the Carson River to rapidly expand, cresting banks and wetlands.
Earlier this week, a flood watch was issued beginning today, Saturday, as over a million gallons of water per minute began entering the Carson Valley.
According to the National Weather Service, the river could reach a depth of up to 12.6 feet by Monday morning.
Streams in the area will also be running high as water from both the Sierra and eastern foothills pour into the basin.
Please use caution near waterways, and thanks to Kim Nehrboss-Allen for the photo!
