Nevada recognizes October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month

The Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Division of Emergency Management, Department of Administration’s Enterprise IT Services, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance are participating in National Cyber Security Awareness Month to increase awareness throughout Nevada.

Silver Oak golf course owner provides multiple gifts to Western Nevada College Foundation

Donated to the Western Nevada College Foundation on behalf of the E.L. Cord Automotive Technology Center by Garth Richards, owner of the Silver Oak Golf Course located near the college in Carson City, the combined parts have an appraised value of $15,000.

Hello Carson City! It’s great to be back!
Following WNC’s graduation in May, I returned to my hometown of Haines, Alaska. Haines is a small town in southeast Alaska, 90 miles north of Juneau. It is home to 1,713 people year round (1,714 when I’m in town) and swells to 5,000 plus in the summer.
AZZ Galvanizing to build eco-friendly plant in Storey County

Nevada Department of Transportation names Gaskin as deputy director

Gaskin will work out of the Carson City headquarters and oversee NDOT environmental programs, including policy, regulatory and educational efforts to manage stormwater involving state roads and transportation facilities in accordance with state and federal laws.
World-exploring journalist, author Simon Winchester to give free public lecture at UNR

The Nevada Artists Association has just begun their Photography Show. Head over to the Brewery Arts Center to see it. If you haven’t been to the Courthouse lately, Capital City Arts Initiative has done an incredible job of showcasing some of the unseen craftsmanship that our local manufacturers create on a regular basis. You’ll find Industrial Arts on the second floor. The arts meet engineering at the Carson City Library. Students from Harvard and MIT will be on-hand to teach kids about various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) principles as part of the Spokes America Learning Festival.

Festivities in Carson City begin Friday at Max Casino, formerly Carson Station, with a street dance, show and shine beginning at 6 p.m. The car show then moves to Mills Park for the weekend.
