Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (more popularly known as NCET) will be hosting a hybrid version of its annual Technology Awards alongside the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) Awards on Wednesday, October 21.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. The Union will host a dining fundraiser for the Greenhouse Project on Friday, and artist Jakota Wass performs at Bella Vita Bistro. The 43rd annual Wild Sheep Show will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention. Comedian Marc Yaffee headlines the Carson Comedy Club on Saturday with much more in store for the weekend! The Wild Sheep Foundation will host its 43rd annual Convention and Sporting Expo, known as "The Sheep Show,” Jan. 16-19 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and the Peppermill Resort Spa & Casino.

One of the most historic events affecting the American Business Women's Association was the proclamation of September 22 as American Business Women’s Day. Enacted in 1983 by a joint resolution of Congress and the signature of then-President Ronald Reagan, the proclamation recognized all working women. Thirty-six years later, ABW Day continues to be recognized as a celebration of achievements of business women, members, and the Association.

RENO — Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology is hosting its 14th annual Small Business Expo on Friday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Mt. Rose Ballroom at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

It’s almost time for the highly anticipated world title fight between Oscar Valdez and Jason Sanchez.

The featherweight boxers will touch gloves as the ESPN-televised main event on June 8 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Carson City boxer Diego Elizondo hasn’t fought in a year, but he’s hardly been inactive.

Since his third professional bout last May, the 20-year-old was married. On Dec. 23, Diego and Veronica Elizondo had a baby daughter, Violeta.

In his third fight, Diego Elizondo learned some painful lessons about professional boxing. The 19-year-old lightweight from Carson City fought a more experienced opponent, Canton Miller, to a four-round draw on Friday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Okay. This is one of the hardest weekend lists I’ve ever had to do. This dump of snow has cancelled some events, but others are in full force. Best I can tell, St. Patrick’s Day parties are not deterred by a little snowfall. There will be no parade in Virginia City, but the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest is on. Head to downtown Carson for more green beer, Irish music, and corned beef and cabbage than you’ll know what to do with.

Winter may be showing up fashionably late, but she was certain to make an entrance. Schools in Carson City are closed due to the snowfall we received last night, but Carson Valley and Lyon County schools will be open. For the kids of Youth Theater Carson City: the show must go on.

The Carson Chamber Singers of Carson City, Nevada, will participate in a patriotic memorial service at the 99th annual American Legion National Convention in Reno on Sunday, August 20, 11 a.m., at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

A video public service announcement commissioned by the Nevada Department of Wildlife and produced by local marketing firm, the NEON Agency, took top awards from the Reno chapter of the American Advertising Federation at the 2017 “ADDY” Awards, March 10, at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The public service announcement took a gold award as well as the coveted “Judges Choice” award.

Bet your bottom dollar that it will be a great weekend. Wild Horse Children’s Theater finishes up its spring production of ‘Annie, Jr: The Musical,’ so don’t miss your chance to catch these talented kids on stage. Muscle Powered will be out and about for their monthly Trash Mob and invite you to help clean up a little corner of our valley. The Annual Polar Plunge at Zephyr Cove is a brave way to help the Special Olympics raise money, and the costumes get wilder every year. Keep reading and enjoy the weather before the clouds return.

Irish eyes are smiling on us: it’s going to be a gorgeous day. You won’t have to look far for some green beer, whiskey, or corned beef – there will be St. Patrick’s Day parties all over. Live music is on the menu, as well. Choose from Men of Worth at the Brewery Arts Center, an all ages punk show at Sassafras, or Stereo Galaxy in the McFadden Plaza, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The brave ones will be at the St. Baldrick Fundraiser at Red’s Old 395 where you’ll see some heads shaved for a good cause. Where ever you end up, just make sure you have a plan to get home safely.

The fifth annual Youth Wildlife Conservation Experience will take place Saturday, January 21st from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Mt. Rose Ballrooms of the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno. This free event for families is designed to excite and inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and conservationists.

A Carson City man has been selected to sing the National Anthem on Wednesday ahead of a campaign stop in Reno by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Entertainer Rick J. Radecki will sing ”The Star-Spangled Banner" at the opening of the Trump For President rally to be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center at 3:30 p.m.
