Wild Sheep Show: Largest conservation, mountain hunting convention in Reno Jan. 16-19
The Wild Sheep Foundation will host its 43rd annual Convention and Sporting Expo, known as "The Sheep Show,” Jan. 16-19 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and the Peppermill Resort Spa & Casino.
“WSF’s Sheep Show is the largest conservation and mountain hunting convention in the U.S., and features hundreds of exhibitors, entertainers and educational events, as well as online and silent auctions,” said WSF President and CEO Gray N. Thornton. “The auctions at the event offer nearly $6 million in hunts, trips, art, jewelry, firearms and equipment, as well as more special conservation permits than any other convention or wildlife show.”
Through convention success and member donations, WSF directed nearly $6 million last year to wild sheep conservation and other mission programs. For the past several years, WSF has seen attendance reach record levels, with funds raised for conservation increasing annually.
Approximately 11,000 members of WSF and the general public attended the convention and expo last year, with thousands of WSF members sponsoring and contributing to the evening fundraising events.

The Wild Sheep Foundation, based in Bozeman, Mont., was founded in 1977 by wild sheep conservationists and enthusiasts. With a membership of more than 10,000 worldwide, WSF is the premier advocate for wild sheep and other mountain wildlife and their habitats. WSF has raised and expended more than $130 million on wild sheep habitat and population enhancements, education and conservation advocacy programs in North America, Europe and Asia to “Put and Keep Wild Sheep On the Mountain." These and other efforts have increased bighorn sheep populations in North America from historic lows in the 1950-60s of 25,000 to more than 85,000 today.
